Speed (1994)
"Well, I Should Probably Tell You That I'm Taking The Bus Because I Had My Driver's License Revoked."
the best and most popular action-thriller movies of the 1990s. Bullock's character, Annie Porter, was a humorous and courageous woman who didn't need a guy, or anyone, to tell her who to be or what to do. She quickly jumps to the opportunity to become the bus driver and maintain the 50 miles-per-hour speed it needs in order to not blow up.
As Porter jumps to the driver's seat, she its that she's taking the bus because she had her license revoked. When asked by the LA police officer, Jack Traven, what it was revoked for, she replies, "speeding." It's a well-timed and witty quote that perfectly defines her character and sets up the rest of the movie.
The Net (1995)
“Just think about it. Our whole world is sitting there on a computer. It's in the computer, everything."
The Net is another one of Bullock's 90's action thrillers that showcased her abilities to be in drama films. Bullock's character, Angela Bennett, deals with the loss of her identity and life as she knows it, along with countless imposters who try to kill her and get information from her.
With Bennett's entire world falling apart around her, she realizes that everyone's lives are documented on a computer for anyone to steal and know at any given moment. Although this is a line from one of Bullock's older films, it's extremely timely, perhaps even more so today than ever before. Everything about a person is documented for people to see or even steal, and Bullock's character expresses how horrifying that really is.
Practical Magic (1998)
“I dream of a love that even time will lie down and be still for.”
Mix Sandra Bullock (Sally Owens) and Nicole Kidman (Gillian Owens) with fantasy, romance, and comedy, and obviously the result will be iconic. Oh, and they're witches with a family curse and have some epic sisterhood quotes. Any man the Owens sisters fall in love with will be doomed to their ultimate death.
While Bullock's character deals with the pain of never having a lover, or falling in love knowing her lover will surely die, she dreams often of a true love that will last forever. "Of a love that even time will lie down and be still for." The movie is a cult classic and this quote from Bullock captures the essence of the film.

Bullock diving into Rom-Coms was truly a gift for everyone. Fans know she has some of the most hilarious lines in the genre, and this movie was a true stepping-stone for her comedic career. Bullock plays Lucy, a woman who has become secretly obsessed with commuter Peter Callaghan, visiting him in hospital after he is sent into a coma and subsequently meeting his family and being mistaken for his fiancée.
While Lucy spends the holidays with Peter's family, she begins this close friendship with his brother, Jack. Her annoyance with Jack allows for her comedic side to shine. This was Bullock's first Golden Globes nomination which really showcased her in the Rom-Com world.
Ocean's Eight (2018)
"If you're going to have a problem with stealing, then you're not going to like the rest of this conversation.”
This heist comedy is one of Bullock's most recent films and had her in a con-artist role. The all-female spin-off was not only provided a suspenseful heist but also included incredible comedic relief.
With her character, Debbie Ocean, Bullock provides an amazing performance full of intrigue and her usual comedy. Her line, "If you're going to have a problem with stealing, then you're not going to enjoy the rest of this conversation," is a great representation of Bullock's character.
Hope Floats (1998)
"Try to that when you find yourself at a new beginning. Just give hope a chance to float up."
Hope Floats is one of Bullock's more serious dramas. While it's an older film, it's still widely known and stands as one of her best pieces. The hope and inspiration in this movie show no bounds. Bullock's motherly role and ability to overcome divorce and humiliation back in her hometown allow for some epic lines that won't soon be forgotten.
Bullock's character, Birdee Pruitt, expresses to her young daughter, Bernice, "Childhood is what you spend the rest of your life trying to overcome. " That and the line to "give hope a chance to float up," resonate with fans still to this day and provided Bullock with one of her more beautiful roles.
The Proposal (2009)
"If you touch my ass one more time I will cut your balls off in your sleep, okay?"
This is by far a fan favorite Bullock Rom-Com. From office romance to hilarious dances in the woods, this film hits all the spots for fans. Bullock's character, Margaret Tate, is universally hated by all and forces her assistant, Andrew Paxton, to marry her so she doesn't get deported to Canada.
While her soft-spot for Paxton grows more and more, she remains prickly. Her quick one-liners are perfectly timed and this quote demonstrates her character's ability to be short but also hilarious.
Gravity (2013)
“I know, we're all gonna die. Everybody knows that. But I'm going to die today. Funny that... you know, to know."
Gravity is arguably one of Bullock's best movies which landed her a nomination for Best Actress at the 86th Academy Awards. The thriller takes place in space with only two astronauts trying to return to Earth after their space shuttle is destroyed in mid-orbit. Bullock's intense speech about death resonated with viewers.
Bullock's character expresses that she's scared of dying and, "Nobody will mourn for (her), no one will mourn for (her) soul." The movie was intense, and this quote hits a nerve about death that viewers couldn't quite shake. It was an important role in Bullock's career.
Miss Congeniality (2000)
“I am in a dress, I have gel in my hair, I haven't slept all night, I'm starved, and I'm armed! Don't *mess* with me!"
Miss Congeniality is one of Bullock's most memorable roles. Her performance as Gracie Hart, just might be her best role ever. The comedy showcases feminism and women in the FBI, of course, with a fun twist. Her character was instantly iconic and showcases Bullock's numerous acting abilities.
The most unforgettable line from the movie is when badass, tom-boy Hart says, "I am in a dress, I have gel in my hair, I haven't slept all night, I'm starved, and I'm armed! Don't *mess* with me!" It expresses her character perfectly and remains one of her most memorable lines.
The Blind Side (2009)
“You threaten my son, you threaten me. You so much as cross into downtown, you will be sorry."
While Bullock has had many noteworthy lines and roles, there's truly one that stands out the most. Based on an incredible true story, her character, Leigh Ann Touhy, is the adoptive mother of Michael "Big Mike" Oher. Bullock received an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the film.
Her love for her son showed no bounds and it was obvious through the lines Bullock had. Touhy made it very clear that Michael was her own and she would do anything for him. "You threaten my son, you threaten me." This quote stands out as one of Bullock's most sentimental and heartfelt of all time.
