the Saw movies have seen John Kramer (Tobin Bell), otherwise known as Jigsaw, kidnap dozens of people and makes them go through torturous gauntlets, a twisted form of getting them to appreciate their lives more. The killer utilizes Billy the Puppet, a pale, black-haired ventriloquist dummy with red swirls on his cheeks, to deliver messages to his victims, acting as the face of his serial killer alter ego.
Now, AshleyArtistryy_ has released a cosplay of herself as Jigsaw's Billy puppet, bringing the Saw villain to life in a gender-swapped rendition. She sports white facepaint and red lipstick, alongside wavy black hair and red s to match the puppet's eyes. Painted on her cheeks are two small spirals, while she wears a red bowtie, the only difference to the original being slightly longer ribbons. Check out Ashley's cosplay below:
What Gender-Bent Cosplay Of Jigsaw Says About The Saw Movies
Would John Kramer Be Any Different Female?
The gory horror franchise has seen a resurgence as of late, with the critical and commercial success of Saw X leading to the announcement of the Saw XI, due for release in September 2025. While John's presence has been an important part of the story since the beginning, it doesn't seem like much would change if he were a woman. From Saw IV through Jigsaw, his apprentices are the ones setting his signature traps, most notably Amanda Young (Shawnee Smith) and Mark Hoffman (Costas Mandylor).

Saw 11's Release Delay Proves The Franchise Learned The Right Lessons After $111 Million Hit
After the critical and commercial success of 2023's Saw X, Lionsgate is taking its time releasing another entry in the long-running horror franchise.
Since Amanda was part of the cast of Saw X, the franchise is still illustrating the gender of whoever takes up the Jigsaw mantle doesn't really matter. However, part of John's particular backstory is that his wife was attacked and had a miscarriage, something the killer could experience instead if the gender roles were reversed. The pain of directly losing a child could drive a female Jigsaw to potentially create even more dangerous traps, perhaps becoming more disillusioned with people because of how personal the pain of losing a child would become.
Our Take On A Female Jigsaw In Saw
It Would Provide A New Perspective On The Killer's Pain
A female version of Jigsaw would work, and could provide a new perspective on the pain that drove the original to set up traps and become a murderer. This revised rendition would still be just as ruthless as John, but could also provide new insight because of the direct experience she'd end up having with a miscarriage. Because of this, the cosplay stands out as a potential what-if scenario Saw could easily explore, potentially even with a new character, in the future.
