Warning: Spoilers ahead for Severance season 2's finale!Severance season 2's finale, Lorne reappears, delivering a young goat to Drummond before all hell breaks loose.

Goats being sacrificed at Lumon is certainly bizarre but not a complete shock based on the company's ideologies and the Eagan family's methods of management. While clearly a tough figure in her department, there's no doubt that Lorne has an emotional connection to her goats, which is why she's so reluctant to assist Mark and Helly when they first meet. Still, Lorne willingly delivers a goat after Mark completes the Cold Harbor project as part of the ritual, paving the way for a familiar sight for Gwendoline Christie fans.

Gwendoline Christie's Severance Character Is Involved In Season 2's Epic Fight Scene

Lorne Goes Toe-To-Toe With Mr. Drummond

Before ing Severance, Gwendoline Christie's previous TV show role came in Netflix's Wednesday. Aside from portraying Captain Phasma in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Christie's most notable role stems from her time playing Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones. As one of the fiercest warriors within the Seven Kingdoms, Brienne's role was often combat-heavy, showcasing the character's fighting prowess. She didn't get much respect from her male counterparts, at least not at first, but Brienne always held her own. Those who miss Brienne of Tarth have the opportunity of seeing Christie's physicality back on display in Severance season 2's finale.

Severance Finally Reveals The Dark Purpose For Lumon's Goat Department

After three years' worth of theories around the mystery, Severance's season 2 finale finally reveals the dark purpose of Lumon's goat department.

Before Lorne executes the cute little goat in front of Drummond, the pair are interrupted by Mark out in the hallway. Drummond instantly tries to subdue Mark, knowing he shouldn't be attempting to break into the Exports Hall. Mark and Drummond break out into a violent fight, but due to Drummond's size, he has the upper hand. That is until Lorne jumps in to help Mark against Drummond, giving Drummond a viable opponent because, like Brienne, Lorne can fight. Christie's character satisfyingly helps Mark overpower Drummond, allowing him to continue his mission while she saves her goat, Emile.

What Gwendoline Christie Has Said About Her Severance Season Fight Scene

Christie Couldn't Resist The Severance Role

Gwendoline Christie holds a bell while standing with dirt on her face in Severance season 2

Though seeing Gwendoline Christie become battered and bloody from a fight scene in Severance season 2 seems fitting, she didn't take the role because of that scene. According to an interview (via Collider), Christie has "deliberately not done combat since Game of Thrones." That mindset changed, though, when the scene was explained to her, understanding that "there was a great depth" in the sequence between Lorne, Mark, and Drummond. The primal elements of the scene stem from "Lorne's repressed emotion, anger, and desire for change," elements that other Lumon employees can relate to.

...even though Lorne and Emile get a chance to return to Mammalians Nurturable, it's unclear what the future holds for Christie's Severance character.

The emotions boil over, pushing Lorne to protect her goats from a grim fate she seems all too familiar with. Ironically, Drummond is killed in the Severance season 2 finale, but even though Lorne and Emile get a chance to return to Mammalians Nurturable, it's unclear what the future holds for Christie's Severance character. When speaking to EW, Christie revealed she "would absolutely love to return in the future," adding that she has "an intense fascination with this character." Returning for Severance season 3 might not involve more fight training, but it would still be a treat.
