The GOG version of Silent Hill 4: The Room just received a substantial update that restores content removed from the PC version. While the fourth mainline entry in the Silent Hill franchise may be divisive among fans, it's widely agreed that the PC version is the worst way to play the game. Fortunately, in its mission to preserve and improve older titles that are difficult to access on current devices, GOG has made some major improvements to The Room, and the latest patch may be its most exciting yet.
Per PC Gamer, the update adds all the "hauntings" that were included in the PlayStation 2 version of Silent Hill 4: The Room that never made it across to PC. At several points in Silent Hill 4, players will return to Henry Townshend's apartment and witness a creepy cutscene as the evil of Silent Hill invades his home; The PC port included some of these moments but seven of the so-called "hauntings" were only available on PS2. Fortunately, the missing clips, which include the sink tap running blood and a wall full of dolls, are now accessible in the GOG version.
Silent Hill 4 Deserves More Love
It's Great To See GOG Putting In The Work
GOG is doubling down on its efforts to preserve and reignite interest in older games. While it would be enough to simply make retro titles available in the store, the company often goes the extra mile by improving the original release, making it more approachable for modern audiences. Silent Hill 4: The Room may not have been especially difficult to run, but the PC version was also known to be quite buggy: Fortunately, the latest update has squashed many of its more problematic glitches.
While it may not be as delivering the tone and story fans had come to expect from the series. Many believe The Room is too clunky for its own good and the constant switch between perspectives is jarring, but it's undeniably an interesting experience.

Now that Silent Hill 4: The Room has surprisingly arrived on PC, it's the perfect time to play the survival horror game again - or for the first time.
