Fans of Sister Wives have watched the entire Brown family evolve, including two of Kody Brown's children coming out as gay, and Gwendlyn Brown's experience was very different than Leon Brown's. The Brown family is a part of the Apostolic United Brethren fundamentalist group, which doesn't believe in gay marriage. However, luckily, most of the Brown clan does. Nonetheless, fans have noticed how differently the two sisters' news was received.
As viewers know, Gwen is the eleventh Sister Wives child out of 18, and she is the daughter of Kody and Christine Brown. As for Leon, they are the only child of Kody and Meri Brown. Gwen was always the calmer one when it came to any family drama and could usually be found by her mother's side. Leon has always been outspoken and even came out to their parents while filming Sister Wives. Now that Gwen and Leon are all grown up, they are ready to tackle the world's injustices.
Leon Brown Came Out To Their Parents First
Back in 2017, an episode of the show aired that showed Sister Wives' Leon coming out as gay to Kody, Meri, Christine, Janelle Brown, and Robyn Brown. At the time, Robyn was the first to jump up and embrace Leon for coming out on Sister Wives, while their parents sat in shocked silence. At the time, Kody stated that it was a "bomb" being dropped and that he was still processing the information. The patriarch went as far as to say, "We're not happy Mariah's (Leon) gay; we're happy Mariah (Leon) knows herself," referring to Leon's name before their transition. After coming to with the fact that she would not see her child marry a man, Meri wholeheartedly embraced their sexuality. Today she is a major er of Leon and their partner, Audrey Kriss, both of whom have since come out as transgender.
Gwendlyn Brown Came Out Online
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sister Wives' Gwen, who's now engaged, had to delete her for a moment to halt all of the comments. Some fans wondered if she was gay, essentially ignoring the bisexual term. Sadly some of her Sister Wives family have also been negative. In 2020, Gwen tweeted, "That moment when you find out your siblings' gossip about how they don't think your sexuality is real or possible." Mykelti Brown has spoken out in of her little sister, but many of the other Browns have not. It is safe to assume that Paedon Brown may have been the one questioning his sister's sexuality since he has been outspoken in the past about his conservative views.
Sister Wives fans have noticed that neither Christine nor Kody have directly come out in of Gwen. However, Christine does seemingly her daughter. Hopefully, the 20-year-old can take some solace in the fact that Kody now seems to be very ive of Leon since becoming engaged to Audrey. At least Gwen has her older sibling, Leon, to look to for guidance that she may need in the future.
