Kody Brown from Sister Wives season 18 unfolded, the Brown family fell apart. Season 19 has been emotional so far.
The patriarch is coy about his line of work, but he reportedly used to work in the marketing/advertising niche. Janelle Brown was employed in the ing industry, and was formerly the primary breadwinner. Kody and Janelle told the cameras that they kept their polygamous life private to protect their jobs. Janelle revealed more about her life before Kody, including work details, but Kody remained a bit of a mystery. Kody and Janelle were the only two who brought in paychecks for the entire family to live off. Now that Kody has one wife instead of four, things have changed.
Kody Brown Was A Firearms Salesman
Yes, He Sold Guns
Before Sister Wives, Kody seemed to drift from job to job. Up until 2004, Kody was the president of Das Hundhaus Firearms and Accessories. He then recognized that Sister Wives was a potential cash cow. In 2010, he founded Brown Family Entertainment. Kody kept his job as a firearms salesman, but it's unknown whether he stuck with the career as the seasons continued.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now
Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.
In recent years, Kody was spotted at a gun show in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The annual town gun show is a big deal in that region, since there are over 4,000 tables, and the show takes place on 11 acres of land. While this could indicate he's still working in the industry, he could also have moved toward guns as a hobby.
Kody Creates Cameos To The Brown Family
He Is A Controversial Influencer
Kody has also gone down the usual route of a reality TV star and makes money off his fame. The 54-year-old set up a Cameo, gifting videos to fans willing to pay. Kody currently charges $149 for personal videos and keeps his career as a gun salesman on the down-low, to avoid media scrutiny due to the political climate. He likely relies on influencing and reality TV income to his family. Sadly, his son Garrison Brown ed away in early March, 2024. That was a sad and devastating blow.
Kody Brown Is Believed To Be A Big Spender
Does Kody Squander His Hard-Earned Money?
Kody's outspoken daughter Gwendlyn Brown called him a
"controlling"
coward in the Without A Crystal Ball clip shown above. She's also said that he spends too much money. While this isn't proven, other Brown kids have also complained about Kody, feeling that he pours most of his resources into his life with Robyn and their kids, shortchanging the other wives (who are now exes) and their children.
There is some evidence that this could be true, although there's no hard proof. Recently, Kody and Robyn put their lavish Flagstaff home on the market. Yes, they're selling and money woes may be the reason why. While Kody does make money from reality TV appearances and possibly from side gigs, he has a lot of children, some of whom aren't self-ing. Also, he wants to provide his queen Robyn with a certain standard of living.
Kody's been spotted in pricey David Yurman jewelry. He and Robyn are also believed to spend a lot of time in malls, perhaps indulging in retail therapy. So, Kody may feel pressure to keep Sister Wives rolling, especially after sinking so much money into the doomed Coyote venture. The battle of Coyote was a sad saga that was a harbinger of doom. The family couldn't survive the wars over patches of land. Coyote became a symbol of polygamy in tatters.
Now, Kody must rebuild with Robyn and money is part of that equation. Viewers are still interested in the family, and his home may sell, so Kody does have options. He's not financially powerless. Right now, he doesn't appear to be working a job, aside from Cameo and being a reality TV star.
Therefore, things may not be so bad for the patriarch. He hasn't revealed his net worth, but has said that he has assets, just like his ex-wives do.
The backlash against Kody's job was quick. It's challenging to the patriarch since gun control has become a significant topic in the United States. However, he was already an unpopular cast member, so it probably doesn't impact his standing. The Sister Wives star continues to polarize fans and his family alike, so much so that he only has one wife left, Robyn.
Fans of Sister Wives can stream the series on the Discovery+ platform.
