Director Zack Snyder's next two movies will be Army of the Dead franchise, which already has two movies released with more on the way. The way that the DCEU has handled Snyder's exit and his unrealized plans has been the subject of much scrutiny from Snyderverse fans, something that will only be exacerbated by the success of Rebel Moon and Planet of the Dead.

As seen at the end of Snyderverse's Knightmare timeline was originally set to be the future of the DCEU, with characters such as Batman, Mera, Deathstroke, Flash, and Cyborg traversing a post-apocalyptic world in order to take down an evil Superman. While this premise is exciting, Snyder's DCEU exit means that it never saw the light of day. Snyder's vision of a sci-fi post-apocalyptic world may not be totally dead though, as his future movies seem to be tonally reminiscent of the Knightmare timeline, with Rebel Moon being sci-fi and Planet of the Dead taking place in the post-apocalypse. If Snyder nails the two projects and turns them into massive franchises as he plans, it would show that Snyder's Knightmare could have been great, making DC's Snyder mistake even more apparent.

Warner Bros Shows No Sign Of Completing The Snyderverse

Although Zack Snyder's Justice League was a glimmer of hope, Warner Bros is currently showing no sign of plans to restore the Snyderverse. While DC is getting its act together, doing things like bringing back Henry Cavill's Superman, the company has shown that it prefers its new direction. Instead of building up to a massive Justice League crossover movie, the DCEU instead has focused on more self-contained films since Snyder's departure, with the films only making small references to each other.

The biggest sign that the Snyderverse isn't continuing is DC's recent change in leadership. James Gunn and Peter Safran are now the heads of DC Studios, and while the films made under their leadership will probably be great, Gunn's style couldn't be further from Snyder. If Warner Bros. intended to bring back Snyder, hiring a director like James Gunn to lead DC Studios just doesn't make sense. On top of that, Snyder seems to be busy with his Army of the Dead and Rebel Moon franchises, meaning that he may not be able to come back to DC even if Warner Bros. wanted him to.

Planet Of The Dead & Rebel Moon Could Intensify Snyderverse Calls

While DC doesn't seem to have any plans to bring Snyder back, Planet of the Dead and Rebel Moon could intensify fan outcry even more. If Zack Snyder proves that he can create a great film in these genres, viewers may get even more excited about the director restoring the Snyderverse, wanting to see him once again tackle iconic characters like Batman and Superman. While the #RestoreTheSnyderverse campaign is already massive, the success of Rebel Moon and Planet of the Dead could make the movement even bigger.
