Summary
- Spider-Man 4 must address the aftermath of No Way Home with Peter's loved ones forgetting him and a return to classic attire.
- Titles like Spider-Man: Homeless or Spider-Man: Blue could reflect the emotional journey while maintaining comic ties.
- Speculation on the future Spider-Man film includes potential for crossovers with characters like Black Cat or a Venom showdown.
The Spider-Man 4 following the enormous success of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Considering that the installments in the recent Jon Watts-directed trilogy were released consistently every two years from 2017-2021, this longer break between films has only worked to build hungry anticipation for the next Tom Holland-starring entry in the saga. Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with a tremendous setup, just as Far From Home had done two years prior, and rumors have swirled ever since on where this next entry might go.
The events of this next Spider-Man film must follow the story setup, even if the film's plot moves away from some of the core pieces of the preceding trilogy. In this next installment, Spider-Man must deal with everyone he knows and loves forgetting him. Following this, Tom Holland giving rare Spider-Man 4 updates, audiences have begun speculating on the film's title.

Spider-Man's 8 MCU Costumes, Ranked
Peter Parker's Spider-Man has had 3 films and 3 appearances in the MCU thus far, resulting in 8 total costumes the Webslinger has worn since 2016.
10 Spider-Man: Homeless
Or Spider-Man: Home Alone Or Spider-Man: Home Is Where The Heart Is Or...
Following the previous films set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there is reason to expect the franchise to continue the pattern of including the word "home" in the title of each installment, resulting in something like Spider-Man: Homeless. However, this phrase was primarily used to refer to Spider-Man's homecoming to Marvel after several years exclusively at Sony. Moving forward, it seems that with contract negotiations over the Spider-Man character always changing, the plot of this film seems to indicate a push away from the MCU rather than toward it.
If this film has the word home in the title, then every following movie for as long as Tom Holland plays Spider-Man will have to do the same. This is restrictive, and while Spider-Man: Homeless reflects accurately on the character's place following No Way Home, it is not a good title. Continuing to mandate the word in these titles will diminish their effect and weaken as the franchise continues. With a new director coming aboard and a sense of a different Spider-Man, it is unlikely, though not impossible, that this next Spider-Man film will follow the past naming trajectory.

Zendaya’s Spider-Man 4 Return Can Finally Fix A Tragic MCU Trend
Spider-Man 4 will continue No Way Home's tragic ending, but Zendaya's rumored return is a good sign that her character may receive a good fate.
9 Spider-Man: Blue
The Start Of Another Obvious Naming Convention
Spider-Man: Blue is a 2002 comic book by Jeph Loeb in which the hero laments the death of Gwen Stacy on Valentine's Day. While the death of Gwen Stacy has not occurred in the MCU, it is clear that Marvel is willing to use canon and titles quite liberally in its films. Titling the next Spider-Man film Spider-Man: Blue would still be thematically appropriate, as Peter has lost everyone in his life, and there will undoubtedly be some elements of sadness to the iconic character's journey in this film.
From a branding perspective, this would be an excellent title because, despite the lack of such titled comics following it, this next trilogy could then be fulfilled with Spider-Man: Red and Spider-Man: White. The colors would notably refer to the character's outfit and his evolving emotions throughout the trilogy. Red would feature a story of power, anger, and emotion, while White would close the trilogy with peace and new beginnings.
8 Spider-Man & The Black Cat
A New Romance Begins
Pulling from graphic novels like Spider-Man and the Black Cat: The Evil that Men Do and following the naming trajectories of preceding Marvel films, Spider-Man and The Black Cat could introduce a new love interest for the hero. Rumors are already circling about the appearance of Felicia Hardy in the next Spider-Man film. Following Zendaya's MJ forgetting Peter Parker, it makes sense for the franchise to bring a new love interest to Spider-Man. Black Cat's villainous tendencies but good heart could make for an excellent co-lead in this film.
Marvel has followed this naming convention twice, with Ant-Man and the Wasp and Deadool and Wolverine. Putting Black Cat's name in the title would appeal to fans of the character without distracting from the success assured in a new Spider-Man film. It could be an excellent jumping-off point to follow up with a Black Cat spin-off. This kind of effective cross-promotion marketing would be irresistible to Sony.
7 Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends
An MCU Extravaganza
Considering the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, it seems unlikely that the next Spider-Man film will be more rather than less connected to the MCU. Still, after Spider-Man: Far From Home ended with Spider-Man's identity being revealed to the entire world, the MCU followed up by doing everything they could to undo that as soon as possible in the next film. It would not be impossible that Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends follows the same pattern and features Spider-Man as part of a larger MCU ensemble as he is reintegrated into the team.
Alongside Ant-Man, She-Hulk, and the new Captain America, Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends would draw its title from the animated series. In this film, Spider-Man could even still have a secret identity, making him unique to his Avengers teammates. Large threats could be faced, and the film would place Peter squarely back in the MCU to set up for or respond to Avengers sequels.
6 Spider-Man Vs. Venom
Or Spider-Man: The Last Hunt
Sony's Venom-centric SSU has been growing with some successes and some failures. The studio surely would like to elevate its franchise by tying it into the more successful Spider-Man series. With that said, both Venom films have been box office hits themselves, and a feature that adeptly featured these celebrated characters together onscreen for the first time since Spider-Man 3 could be a huge hit.
Tying Spider-Man and various characters like Morbius and Kraven together could be difficult, although a Spider-Man: The Last Hunt film might be another effective way. Spider-Man Vs. Venom, however, could still feature these other villains to some extent without distracting from the main conflict at the story's center. Seeing Tom Holland finally interact with the symbiote would make for an exciting new take on an old story. It could then lead to further connected tales with Spider-Man finally entering the Sony Universe.

Venom Just Confirmed His New Role in Marvel's Universe With One Incredible Line
Venom has had an amazing, 36-year character arc, one that has seen him become one of Marvel's biggest icons, and with one line, he cements this.
5 Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Into the Spider-Verse
Inevitably, the Spider-Man films will eventually introduce the multiversal version of the character in Miles Morales. Considering that the MCU is in the middle of the Multiverse Saga, this could happen sooner rather than later. While Tom Holland's Spider-Man is still young, he has undergone an entire trilogy of mentorships from MCU heroes. It would be natural for the character to finally have the chance to mentor someone else and share his knowledge in Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
After the success of the Spider-Verse films, the first appearance of Miles Morales in live-action would be an event that could rise even to the level of No Way Home. With Peter Parker alone in the world, his universe must be populated with new characters. Featuring someone as important and as groundbreaking as Miles Morales would allow this new trilogy to become something new and special inside the Spider-Man canon.
4 Spider-Man: Devil's Reign
A War For New York Featuring The Kingpin
Much of the rumored plot of Spider-Man 4 involves Kingpin becoming the Mayor of New York. This is suggested to be a street-level story with a grounding that hasn't been seen in the MCU's Spider-Man stories. Spider-Man: Devil's Reign would follow these rumored stories and feature Spider-Man teaming up with Marvel heroes like Daredevil to end Kingpin's twisted reign. Using grounded and gritty settings and plot mechanics would feature a new experience in Spider-Man films.
Featuring Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio as their characters from the Daredevil series would effectively tie Spider-Man back into the larger MCU franchise as these characters grow more prominent in the MCU. Kingpin is, however, also a Spider-Man villain, and audiences have never seen the two paired together in live action. Featuring Daredevil fighting alongside the hero would be an exciting elevation of things already working on television. If Marvel wants to do a grounded take on Spider-Man while keeping it tied to the MCU, Devil's Reign would be the most effective way.

MCU Theory Proves Spider-Man 4 Can Be Street-Level & Explore The Multiverse
Spider-Man 4 is in development at Marvel Studios, and the exciting project could debut a new street-level villain with connections to the multiverse.
3 Spider-Man: Amazing Fantasy
All Three Spider-Men Re-Unite
If Sony has their way, Spider-Man 4 will be an even bigger version of Spider-Man: No Way Home, featuring iconic appearances from the past and a feature-length team-up between Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland. Titling this Spider-Man: Amazing Fantasy or Spider-Men: Amazing Fantasies would refer to the original comic book where the character first appeared and would be an excellent tribute to the Stan Lee and Steve Ditko origin that all three of these iterations draw from. In this case, all the heroes would be in the marketing and the same universes throughout.
It will be hard for Marvel to top their success with Spider-Man: No Way Home, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't try. Featuring all three heroes together would allow the film to be a full sequel to each character's preceding films, similar to how the Avengers films function. Audiences would be given glimpses of the universes of Raimi's Spider-Man and Webb's Amazing Spider-Man in an event film that could be a remarkable experience.
2 Spidey!
Or Webhead
Batman had The Dark Knight, Superman had Man of Steel, and Scooby-Doo had Scoob!. Titling films about iconic characters with nicknames has been a trend in recent years. While Webhead is a Spider-Man nickname, it does not have the gravitas that the Batman and Superman nicknames have and may not make a compelling film title. That is why the more playful Spidey! feels appropriate. Capitalizing on the success of the Spider-Verse films, turning Tom Holland's Peter Parker into an animated character would be a fun departure and a chance to diversify Spider-Man 4 from the previous entries in the MCU.
Following Disney's plans to change the Moana Disney+ series, it would not be impossible to see the studio change tactics with their forthcoming series, which has already been re-titled from Spider-Man: Freshman Year, and scrap it, reusing details to build an animated prequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming as a feature-length Spider-Man 4. Giving this feature a fun and playful title would be an excellent way to differentiate the feature from the preceding films. While unlikely, each could be an appropriate way to follow up on the Tom Holland Spider-Man brand in a fun and unexpected way.

All 10 Spider-Man Animated Series Ranked Worst To Best
Spider-Man has had many different animated series. While each are good in their own right, some stand head and shoulder above the rest.
1 The Spectacular Spider-Man
A New Branding For A New Era
With Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man off the table, considering it is already being developed as an animated series for Disney+, The Spectacular Spider-Man is the correct title for Spider-Man 4. Following what came before while building something new for Tom Holland's web crawler, the title would signal a new era for the hero. This would be appropriate for the film as it is planned to lead into a new trilogy. Using a whole new title convention is the right choice at this time.
While most of the titles in this article refer to specific circumstances, any of these plot ideas would truly work with The Spectacular Spider-Man as the title for Spider-Man 4. It is a clean, neat title that refers to the comic books and animated series that came before it. Whatever comes of Tom Holland's Spider-Man in the forthcoming film and trilogy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there is no denying that it will certainly be spectacular, and the name of the feature should follow accordingly.
