Marvel has announced that an adventure will unlock additional powers for Spider-Man pushes past his existing boundaries and accesses totally new abilities - abilities likely linked to his recent manifestation of an energy sword.

Miles Morales is about to go through a gauntlet in Marvel Comics. Having recently faced Rabble, Miles will be sucked into the Summer of Symbiotes with a brutal fight against the godlike Carnage, and then find an upgraded Hobgoblin is gunning for him. However, in solicit information for Miles Morales: Spider-Man #9 (by Cody Ziglar and Federico Vicentini), it's revealed this test may well be worth it, as Miles unlocks new powers, with cover art showing him brandishing his crackling energy sword by Dike Ruan & Mateus Manhanini.

Miles Morales recently unlocked the shock ability to manifest an energy sword in Miles Morales: Spider-Man #5, while battling against new villain Rabble. The sword is a result of Miles shaping his 'Venom Blast' power, which - in its base state - allows him to use an electrical charge to 'sting' enemies. However, since inheriting his powers Miles has tapped more and more potential from this power, such as projecting a 'Mega Blast' of all his energy at once, focusing it into a beam, and producing bio-electric threads similar to his usual manmade web-fluid. The manifestation of a sword was huge enough news for fans, but it seems Marvel won't stop there, pushing Miles' new abilities even further.

Spider-Man's Powers Evolve Like Never Before

So far, it's unclear what Miles' new powers will be, however it's likely fans will see a further evolution of his Venom Blast simply because of how recently the energy sword was introduced. However, another clue may be the use of 'BEYOND.' Recently, this term was used across Spider-Man comics to imply the presence of the Beyond Corporation - an insidious tech company which attempted to set up Peter Parker's clone Ben Reilly as its own corporate Spider-Man, complete with powerful new gadgets. It's possible that the Beyond Corporation - or the cosmic space gods whose whims the company enacts, the Beyonders - could have a hand in Miles' evolution, in which case all bets are off.

Miles Morales was introduced as a thrilling new take on the 'Spider-Man' concept, and will soon anchor the hotly anticipated Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, so it makes sense that Marvel is continuing to evolve his powers in new and exciting ways.
