Writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers reveal that Far From Home's mid-credit plot twist was supposed to happen earlier. In fact, Parker was originally going to reveal himself, but they, alongside Watts and the rest of the Marvel Studios creatives decided to go for a bigger shocker with Mysterio's involvement. This ultimately was the better choice considering that they were able to organically reveal the return of Simmons as Jameson. While some argue that the sequence was essentially the movie's ending and shouldn't have been a stinger, in the end, it all worked for the narrative.
Following a short-lived squabble between Disney/Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment regarding Spider-Man's fate's in the MCU, the two companies are now moving forward (keep the hero in the franchise for at least two more projects. As one of the heroes tipped to be the face of the franchise after some of its founding ' exit, it's curious if this deal will extend beyond what's initially agreed upon. But assuming that both of Spider-Man's MCU projects are hits again, it's not outside the realm of possibility that they re-negotiate for a deal extension.
