Spoilers for The Amazing Spider-Man #7 by Marvel Comics
Peter Parker is about to make a big mistake when it comes to putting his trust in Norman Osborn, as his new Spider-Man suit is coming straight from his former enemy. In The Amazing Spider-Man #7 by Marvel Comics, Osborn offers Peter a job at the newly structured Oscorp. However, if the past is any indication, trusting Norman and his new suit for Spider-Man could be a terrible move.
Norman Osborn is currently seeking redemption in the pages of Marvel Comics, as the longtime Spider-Man villain was cleansed of his sins by Sin-Eater, making him realize the past error of his ways. Seemingly turning over a new leaf, Osborn will play an important role in the adventures of the web-slinger, building the hero a brand-new suit packed with advanced Oscorp tech. However, Peter Parker should be highly cautious with Osborn, as trusting his former villain may prove to be a serious mistake for Spider-Man.
In The Amazing Spider-Man #7 by Zeb Wells, John Romita Jr, Scott Hanna, Marcio Menyz, and Joe Caramagna, Norman Osborn invites Peter Parker to Oscorp, immediately offering him a job to work alongside him and his advanced tech. While Peter is intrigued, he's thrown off after running into Mary Jane Watson, who had been visiting Osborn as a brand ambassador for a special Krakoan medicine. After confronting Norman, wondering if the former villain is messing with him again, Osborn shows off a new Spider-Man suit and tells the hero they could work together. Ultimately, Peter declines Norman's offer, refusing to put his trust behind him.
While Spider-Man rejects Norman Osborn at the moment, future solicits reveal that the web-slinger will sport the new suit in issues, meaning he's likely to come around to his former villain's offer. That would be a big mistake for Spider-Man as trusting Osborn, even if he's "cleansed" of his sins, will backfire. Even with Osborn taking on a more heroic role, there's too much history and bad blood between him and Peter Parker for a partnership ever to work, as there will always be distrust between them. Norman Osborn can't suddenly shake his evil past.
Is Norman Osborn suddenly a good guy with Peter Parker's best interests in mind? It's possible. But trusting the former Green Goblin and wearing a suit he created could be a massive mistake for the hero. There's no telling if Spider-Man's new suit will be used against him in the future, but the possibility always exists, especially considering Osborn's villainous past. The Amazing Spider-Man #7 by Marvel Comics is in stores now.
