After enduring two sets of games, a new Squid Game's season 2 ending saw Gi-hun leading one final rebellion against the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), but he was quickly betrayed and forced to watch the death of his closest friend (Lee Seo-hwan) just before being thrown back into the games. Season 3 is set to continue the story of Gi-hun's second chance for a win and will serve as the show's final season, and it is poised to premiere on June 27 on Netflix.

While viewers heavily anticipate the ending of Netflix's most-viewed non-English-language show, Gi-hun is simply looking to escape. In a season 3 clip via IGN, Gi-hun begs the guards to kill him, only to be dragged away without explanation. The clip sees Gi-hun confronting the guards and even taking one of the guns in his own hands. He is dragged away after the safety saves him, while screaming for them to kill him. While Gi-hun rebels, the Front Man sits in his office, sipping whiskey and taking a phone call as the live stream plays. Check out the video below:

What This Means For Gi-hun

Squid Game Season 3 Will Be Emotionally Devastating

Lee Jung-jae points a pistol as Gi-hun in Squid Game season 2

Gi-hun has already experienced every horrible scenario or game that the Front Man could put him through, so it is no surprise that he would want to avoid continuing his time in the arena. At this point, there is no way that the Front Man can allow him to leave with his life. Forcing him to continue playing is nothing but a punishment, and it is unlikely to last more than a week. Having just witnessed the death of his friend, Gi-hun knows that his own end is coming soon, which is why he wants to die quickly.

Will Gi-hun Become The New Front Man In Squid Game Season 3?

Squid Game season 2 gave a lot of focus to the Front Man, but it is entirely possible that Gi-hun could take up the mantle in Squid Game season 3.

With one season left, Gi-hun has seemingly lost his chance to defeat the Front Man, which means that the games will continue indefinitely. His rebellion failed, countless more people will die, and the wealthy will continue to profit from their suffering. Gi-hun is facing extreme guilt, which is one of the reasons that he is looking for a chance to be killed by the guards. This scene was already glimpsed in Squid Game season 3's trailer, but the length of the clip itself is surprising. This should be a truly impactful season, given how emotionally devastated Gi-hun is.

Our Take On Gi-hun's Dramatic Clip

The Front Man Doesn't Want Gi-hun To Die

Gi-hun's overall fate remains mysterious, because the Front Man should have killed him already. The fact that he is still alive implies that there are further plans for him, as the Front Man remains several steps ahead of his schemes. The phone call at the end of the clip could completely redefine this scene, especially if the Front Man reveals some of his plans for Gi-hun. Either way, this is a painful scene after following Gi-hun's story for the past two seasons. Squid Game season 3 was always going to be horrifying, but the extent of the devastation is surprising.
