The rise to Jedi Knight and fall to Sith Lord was as inevitable as it was tragic. Everything that could have happened to send him down a dark path did, with his very being getting corrupted and manipulated into a force of evil.
For a long time, Anakin was not a bad person; he may have been filled with anger, frustration, and confusing emotion, but so often before his fall to the dark side of the Force, Anakin displayed sweetness, comion, and care beyond that of most Jedi in the prequel era.
When He Was Young
Before he was initiated into the Jedi Order, when he was enslaved on Tatooine, Anakin was just a child, and he had a lot of kindness in his heart.
He selflessly offered assistance to the likes of Qui-Gon and Pé, had deep love for his mother, he did not let other kids' opinions of him get him down. Young Anakin was pure of heart and any negative traits were kept hidden.
His Treatment Of The Clones
One of the most central themes and stories of the individuality of the clones, each of them having names, not just numbers, and being unique as opposed to just expendable soldiers bred to die. Anakin ed this.
Generals like Pong Krell did not care for clones, nor the likes of Captain Tarkin. Anakin, though, displayed immense respect, iration, and friendship to the 501st Legion, specifically Captain Rex, whom Anakin made clear he trusted with his life. Anakin valued the clones; he led them from the front lines and did not want them to die or risk their lives unnecessarily.
Going After Artoo
That same sentiment that Anakin displays to the clones applies to one of his greatest friends, R2-D2. Droids are so often mistreated and discriminated against in the Galaxy, but people like Leia, Poe, Luke, and Anakin know the value of droids and their friendship.
Anakin constantly showed how much he cared for Artoo, but the best example is when Artoo was lost in space and picked up by a scavenger. Anakin disobeyed all orders to go back to his friend, and it is one of many times when fans are on the side of the disobedient in The Clone Wars.
Freeing The Twi'lek Slaves
Since he and his mother were enslaved by Watto and his mother was sold around under Hutt jurisdiction in the Outer Rim, Anakin has always held a burning rage inside him towards the practice and came across it a couple of times as a Jedi.
One such time came in The Clone Wars when the Separatists worked with the Zygerrians (infamous slavers of the past) and stole a whole community of Twi'leks to be used as slaves to kickstart the new Zygerrian slave empire. Anakin devised a plan and saved the enslaved people, making clear his hatred and disgust at the practice while still managing to complete the job despite these emotions.
Freeing The Kudon Slaves
Another time when Anakin encountered enslaved people came in his issue of the Age of the Republic comic series when he freed Kudon people who were held by the Separatists in a droid factory.
What makes this even better than The Clone Wars' example is that the Separatists had spread misinformation that the Kudon worked freely for the Separatists. They were hoping the Republic would destroy the factory along with the Kudon in order for neutral systems to sympathize with the Separatist cause. This almost worked until Anakin became conscious about killing civilians and devised a plan to get the Kudon out of the factory before destroying it, finding out that they were enslaved in the process. He liberated the Kudon, allowing them to take blasters and rise against their captors, not falling into the Separatist trap.
Refusing To Leave Obi-Wan
Anakin and Obi-Wan have one of the best and most crucial friendships in all of Star Wars, and despite their disagreements and some of their communication issues, they cared deeply for each other, like brothers.
One display of Anakin's unadulterated selflessness and care came in Revenge of the Sith when he carried an unconscious Obi-Wan on his back to escape the Invisible Hand, refusing to leave Obi-Wan behind despite Palpatine's best efforts.
Acceptance Of Ahsoka
The Clone Wars movie may not have the same level of brilliance as other movies, but it did introduce Ahsoka Tano and her relationship with Anakin.
When Ahsoka felt she had failed and was letting everybody down, Anakin chose that moment to tell her that he pretty much accepts her as his apprentice, despite his very vocal initial concerns on having a Padawan of his own.
Believing In Ahsoka
Fast forward to season 5 of The Clone Wars and Ahsoka Tano is being framed for murder and the bombing of the Jedi Temple. She is put on trial by the Jedi Council, who immediately banishes her from the Order, with the trial being merely a formality.
Not only did Anakin display his disgust at the council for their decision and the trial, but he had also consistently believed in his apprentice. When they sat awaiting the trial, he comforted her and reassured her he believed in her. The entire arc was heartbreaking, and Ahsoka's leaving the council was a significant factor in Anakin's distrust of the Jedi High Council and ultimate fall.
Giving Ahsoka Her New Lightsabers
The last chronological meeting of these two — while Anakin was still Anakin — came at the beginning of the Siege of Mandalore arc. There have been few times in Star Wars, if any, where a character was as visibly excited about another's return as Anakin was to meet Ahsoka again.
In their short meeting, Anakin displayed so much care for Ahsoka, showing concern on where she had been and giving her a new pair of lightsabers, which she so desperately needed. He also gave her the 332nd Company, a subdivision of the 501st Legion, to help her on Mandalore.
When He Was Alone With Pé
Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and Rex/the clones were not the only relationships significantly developed through The Clone Wars; the series also did a fantastic job at improving the Anakin and Pé love story.
Anakin displayed a lot of toxicity and jealousy with Pé when Rush Clovis was around, but when the two were alone, he was sweet, romantic, and truly showed how much he loved her. He gave her his lightsaber; he had secret hologram meetings with her; he listened to her and bantered with her. The relationship had a slew of issues and a whole side of awfulness, but there were many occasions when the two were simply in love, and these were some of the purest, nicest versions of Anakin.
