In a galaxy far, far away, fans almost always choose a Jedi or Sith as their favorite character. In the never-ending wars of Star Wars, it's easiest to choose the side of good or evil. Yet, there are plenty of characters in the middle of it all. And, that grey area is where the world of bounty hunters resides.
Over the years, the bounty hunters of Star Wars have become seen as iconic and legendary. And yet while a good deal of them do rise to greatness, others fade into the background and perhaps deserve a little more attention and love among all the other greats.
Legends: Bossk
The first real-time Star Wars fans got a taste of bounty hunters in the universe was during Empire Strikes Back, when Vader has an entire line-up in front of him all willing to hunt down the rebels. Among them lies the lizard-like hunter known as Bossk.
Hailing from a video games, and fan films, Bossk's legacy has expanded to far more than just a simple bounty hunter in a line-up.
Deserve More: Dengar
Among that large line-up of scum and villainy laid another bounty hunter. Like Bossk, Dengar got his start in the line-up, but unlike his counterpart, Dengar never really went anywhere. He's appeared in a couple of comics, games, and animated shows, but his impact isn't as big as others.
Despite him being largely human and a joke among Bounty Hunters, the likes of Dengar is still a worthy bounty hunter. In recent comics, he proved himself to be intelligent by making a deal with two bounty hunters and that opens the door for this D-list bounty hunter to go higher.
Legends: Asajj Ventress
Development is always welcome in a world like Star Wars. While it doesn't always happen, sometimes characters like sith apprentice Asajj Ventress can end up turning over a new leaf like when she became a notorious bounty hunter at the end of season four of Clone Wars.
While Ventress's talent as a bounty hunter hasn't been showcased nearly as much as others, she's still a noteworthy villain, bounty hunter, and fan-favorite whose influence has stretched far and wide over the world of Star Wars.
Deserve More: Aura Sing
While Empire introduced fans to the concept of bounty hunters, it can be said Clone Wars expanded upon them greatly. The animated series' second season saw an influx of bounty hunters and scum, like the nefarious sharpshooter, Aura Sing.
Although she is largely stuck in the world of Clone Wars, Sing made a bit of a splash in comics before apparently dying, a death only mentioned in dialogue. It's a sad end for such a formidable bounty hunter and honestly, Sing deserved better from the universe.
Legends: Cad Bane
Each era of Star Wars seems to have some bounty hunter or warrior who sticks out. In the time before the Empire rose up, that bounty hunter was Cad Bane. A vile bounty hunter and outlaw, Bane was a noteworthy character of Clone Wars and a bit of a fan favorite.
From masterminding intricate plots to battling Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka, and of course having an obsession with wide-brimmed hats, Cad Bane was the scourge of the galaxy and underworld for some time before being shot down by the only bounty hunter who could eclipse him.
Deserve More: Embo
Alongside Bane and Sing, there were plenty of other bounty hunters who popped up during the events of Clone Wars. One who almost always seems to go unnoticed is Embo, a hat-wearing, alien-speaking bounty hunter.
Embo doesn't have many appearances in Clone Wars, and yet when he did appear on screen, he was a sight to behold. Using his own hat as a weapon, fighting alongside a wolf-like creature, and overall being a noteworthy outlaw, Embo's faded into the background of Star Wars for reasons unknown.
Legends: The Mandalorian
It could be said that in recent years, the concept of bounty hunters was revitalized largely due to The Mandalorian. The titular character, also known as Din Djarin, has become a well-known and popular figure in Star Wars largely due to his association with the adorable Baby Yoda.
Beyond the cute baby, Mando's proven himself to be an expert and deadly bounty hunter. Easily taking one foe after another on his journey through the galaxy and now wielding the Darksaber, the Mandalorian's a true-blooded outlaw and a badass hero to boot.
Deserve More: Ig-88
Despite most bounty hunters being flesh and blood or part of an alien race, some do happen to be droids, and one of the more infamous robo-hunters is IG-88. A droid who's worked with many an outlaw, from the pirate Hondo to the Mandalorian himself, IG-88 hasn't really made a name for himself like he should have.
He's had plenty of appearances in comics, shows, and movies, and yet every time, it's for the service of someone else. If anything, this badass droid deserves more attention than most.
Legends: Boba Fett
Truth be told, the less a character speaks, the more badass they seem. For years, the bounty hunter Boba Fett was defined by his small appearances in Empire and Return Of The Jedi where he had a total of five lines.
Then, as Star Wars entered the modern era, Fett became a more popular and badass figure, from his time as a kid in Clone Wars to battling his way through comics and the most recent event, "War of the Bounty Hunters". His comeback in The Mandalorian was epic, and he has his own series that's in the works, Book Of Boba Fett, which will surely give the epic bounty hunter more room to grow.
Deserve More: Beilret Valance
The films and TV shows are obviously the biggest driving force behind the Star Wars universe, but many seem to forget just how epic Star Wars comics are. Full of dozens of villains, characters like Beliret Valance, a cyborg villain and recently turned bounty hunter, stick out.
While Valance has gotten attention in comics though, his time in the world of movies and shows has yet to arrive. If anything, Valance deserves a chance to shine, whether that's by being introduced in the Book Of Boba Fett or something else altogether.
