For the sequel to reportedly have the title Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, is set to feature the return of the Stinger Mantis crew, comprised of Cal, BD-1, Cere Junda, Greez Dritus, and Merrin. As a Nightsister from Dathomir, Merrin is familiar with the workings of the Force, and could become a new member of the Jedi Order under the guidance of Cere and Cal.

Merrin's acceptance of the light side could draw interesting parallels to Asajj Ventress, the most prominent Nightsister in the Star Wars franchise. Mainly known for serving as Count Dooku's most trusted assassin during the Clone Wars, Ventress has a tragic and complicated relationship with the Force. Originally trained in the way of the Jedi after being orphaned from her Nightsister coven, Ventress succumbed to the dark side when her master was killed. Ventress' and Merrin's Nightsister magick comes from Dathomir's strong connection to the dark side, and Merrin's induction into the Jedi Order could be a compelling foil to Ventress' fall.

Dathomir's Nightsisters were almost entirely wiped out by General Grievous during the Clone Wars, with Merrin one of the few survivors. Much of her time prior to meeting Cal was spent with Taron Malicos, a fallen Jedi Master who manipulated Merrin so that he might learn the ways of Nightsister magick in pursuit of more power. Allying with Cal to take down Malicos, Merrin later became a valuable member of the Stinger Mantis' crew, being particularly effective during the infiltration of Fortress Inquisitorius.

Merrin Could Be A Playable Nightsister Jedi In Fallen Order 2

Rumors have been circulating regarding a new playable character in Jedi: Fallen Order 2, despite Cal remaining the game's protagonist. If this turns out to be the case, Merrin seems to be the most likely candidate for players to control occasionally. The only caveat is that she might need a lightsaber first, otherwise, the game risks taking players away from its core gameplay mechanics. Giving players control of a Nightsister Jedi would be a great way to introduce novel gameplay without mixing up Cal's abilities too much. Nightsister magick is closely related to the dark side, but Merrin taking lessons from Cal and Cere would be the perfect opportunity to see what such powers look like when molded by the light side.

Constructing a lightsaber is an important step for any Jedi Padawan, and having another weapon in-game could help improve the original Jedi: Fallen Order's customization by letting players design two. For the most part, the Stinger Mantis crew (aside from BD-1) were fairly ive participants in the game. Greez piloted, and his gambling debt lead to a whole side plot, but he and Cere mainly waited with the ship while Cal searched for Zeffo ruins. A sequel doesn't necessarily need another Force with Cal at all times, but Merrin's character and potential variation in gameplay make the prospect exciting. Aside from Ventress, the Nightsisters of Dathomir have remained relatively unexplored in Star Wars, but Merrin is the perfect candidate to bring them back to the forefront in the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel, with the added benefit of being an interesting apprentice for Cal and Cere's fledgling school of Jedi.
