Star Wars has some amazing spaceships throughout its nearly 50-year history, but Grand iral Thrawn’s failed TIE Defender, which, if it had been mass-produced, might’ve wiped out the Rebels.

However, throughout Rebels' 4 seasons, other original and cool ships appeared. The Rebel B-wing was introduced in Rebels and recently made their live-action debut in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. One ship that is vastly under-discussed is Ketsu Onyo’s ship, which first appeared in Rebels season 2, episode 8 “Blood Sisters.” While Ketsu rarely appeared, anytime she appeared onscreen, her ship was always nearby.

Ketsu Onyo’s Ship The Shadow Caster Is One of the Coolest Ships in Star Wars

It’s Perfect for a Black Sun Bounty Hunter

Ketsu Onyo in Star Wars Rebels season 2 episode 8 "Blood Sister"

Ketsu Onyo’s ship, the Shadow Caster, is a Lancer-class pursuit craft that had modifications, making it one of the most original ships in all of Star Wars, mainly because of how functional it was for only one person. Because Ketsu worked as a bounty hunter for the Black Sun, she often worked alone. The ship looks small from the outside, but Rebels season 2, episode 8 showed audiences just how large and spacious it is on the inside. This makes it the perfect ship for someone constantly on the move.

No sci-fi franchise is complete without spaceships, and Star Wars has the widest variety of iconic ships that have enthralled fans for decades.

One of the coolest functions of the Shadow Caster is its tractor beam. Most other bounty hunter or rebel ships weren’t equipped with a tractor beam, including the Ghost and the Millennium Falcon. This makes the Shadow Caster more functional for fast pickups and comes in handy when trying to capture a target. Because Ketsu’s ship is fairly small compared to other ships, it’s curious as to why other well-known ships didn’t get equipped with tractor beams.

The Ghost most recently appeared in Ahsoka season 1 in live-action, but has also been spotted in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

The Shadow Caster’s Special Features Would’ve Been Invaluable to the Rebels

So It’s Good Ketsu Got Recruited

Ketsu Onyo's Ship The Shadow Ccaster in Rebels

Because of Sabine Wren’s connection and past with Ketsu Onyo, it made it fairly easy for the Mandalorian to recruit Ketsu to the Rebellion. Despite Ketsu only appearing a few times in Rebels, it’s clear her ship would’ve been an invaluable tool for the Rebel Alliance. With aspects like the tractor beam, and its history with the Black Sun, it would’ve been an easy ship to use for smaller, stealthier missions.

With shows like Andor on the horizon, a character such as Ketsu would be the perfect, low-stakes cameo for fans.

Audiences didn’t get to see the Shadow Caster in action for the Rebel Alliance in Rebels, but Ketsu and her ship may appear in other Star Wars titles. With shows like Andor on the horizon, a character such as Ketsu would be the perfect, low-stakes cameo for fans. Not only was the Shadow Caster a huge asset to the Rebels, but so was Ketsu’s expertise in bounty hunting. No matter what, it’s clear that Star Wars has slept on the Shadow Caster, and with it being almost seven years since it appeared in Rebels, it’s about time it came back.
