Clone Force 99 surviving, and most of them living out most of the rest of the Galactic Empire’s reign in relative peace on Pabu. Despite all the hardships the group had gone through, The Bad Batch’s ending was exactly what audiences wanted.
Clone Force 99’s story has officially wrapped up, but there are pressing questions that need answers. These questions don’t just stem from the series finale, but also from unresolved plot points from earlier in The Bad Batch season 3 and in earlier seasons. With The Bad Batch essentially wrapping up the end of the Clone Wars era of Star Wars, it’s possible that audiences will have to wait a long time if these questions are ever answered.
15 What Happened to Commander Cody?
The Clone Commander Hasn’t Been Seen Since Season 2
Fan-favorite Clone Commander Cody was last seen in The Bad Batch season 2. During the Clone Wars, Cody was Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi’s right-hand man and helped lead the Galactic Republic to many victories. This includes the defeat of General Grievous in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. The last audiences heard of Cody, he had gone AWOL after a mission as part of the Empire with Crosshair.

Star Wars: What Happened To Commander Cody After Executing Order 66
Commander Cody went on to serve the Galactic Empire for years after Palpatine's Order 66 turned the clone troopers against the Jedi.
It's still unclear what happened to Cody and where he ended up. Some speculated that Cody ended up on Tatooine with Obi-Wan, but that theory was disproven by the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series. If Dave Filoni and Lucasfilm do pursue a spin-off of The Bad Batch featuring Captain Rex and Echo, Cody should appear. With so many people invested in Cody’s fate, it’s odd that there’s still no confirmation of what happened to the clone. Hopefully, answers are on the horizon for Cody lovers.
14 Where Did The Zillo Beast Go?
The Creature Escaped In the Series Finale
The last time the Zillo was seen, it was wandering away from Mount Tantiss and to somewhere else on Wayland. It’s unclear what became of the beast. Governor Tarkin may have had the Zillo recaptured, but it’s also possible that the Empire let it be free. Considering there’s no more mention of the creature later in the Star Wars timeline, it’s possible that the Empire abandoned whatever plans they had for the creature following Dr. Hemlock’s death.
13 Do Rex & Echo Lead Their Clone Rebellion?
Rex’s Timeline Is Still Unclear
Throughout The Bad Batch, Rex has been working trying to free clones from the Empire and to fight for his and his brother’s rights under the Empire. However, it has largely been a secondary plot in The Bad Batch. It’s known that Rex eventually settles down on Seelos, but it’s unclear how he got to that point. It would be interesting to see more of Rex’s story, especially his work with Echo.
Echo was confirmed to have officially left Clone Force 99 when he went to work with Rex.
It's been rumored that Lucasfilm will make a new spin-off show featuring Rex and Echo’s journey leading a doomed Clone Rebellion. While this would be interesting, there’s been no indication that this will happen, and Dee Bradley Baker - the voice of the clones - seems to believe his story is over. It would also be interesting to see Emerie Karr ing the fight and working to free her brothers. Whether it’s in a show or some other form, this Rex and Echo story should be told to properly wrap up these stories.
12 When Did Palpatine Bring Back Project Necromancer?
The Project Did Not Die With Hemlock
Nala Se gave her life so that could destroy Dr. Hemlock’s data banks and free Omega from the watchful eye of the Empire; however, audiences know that Project Necromancer will eventually come back and will be successful, given Palpatine's return in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. There have been references to the cloning project in The Mandalorian, so the project likely is up and running by that time; however, it’s still unclear when Palpatine or his agents restarted the project.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch's Finale Rewrites The History Of Project Necromancer
The Bad Batch season 3 finale helps establish a timeline for Palpatine’s precious Project Necromancer, leading to its mention in The Mandalorian.
While much of Hemlock’s research had to be restarted, it’s not that hard to believe that Palpatine had another scientist on call to complete the research. It’s possible that as more and more Star Wars titles come out, this will be answered. It would be interesting to see Brendol Hux be brought into the fold of Project Necromancer and learn what involvement his son, General Armitage Hux had in completing the cloning of Emperor Palpatine.
11 How Did Omega Know About the Rebellion, & Who Recruited Her?
Omega’s Ending Was Ambiguous
The Bad Batch ended with a grown Omega leaving Pabu to the Rebellion as a pilot. The ending was perfect, as Omega made it clear to Hunter that he had fought enough, but that this was now her battle. With so many different s from over the years, it’s possible that any number of old friends told Omega about the mounting fight against the Empire.

A mysterious mutant clone created by the Kaminoans, Omega longed to get away from Kamino and explore the galaxy. She was rescued from the Empire by Clone Force 99, and soon became the heart of the team. The Empire still view Omega as valuable, though, and all signs indicate her story could well end in tragedy.
Will established characters such as Rex or even Hera Syndulla be Omega's rebel recruiter? It would be thrilling to see Omega again, and hopefully reunited with friends like Hera. While Omega left to the Rebellion as a pilot, it’s unclear when she left Pabu and if it was during the time of Star Wars Rebels, or later, during the Galactic Civil War. With Omega aging naturally, she could appear in titles like Ahsoka season 2 or The Mandalorian & Grogu.
10 Where Is Echo During Rebels?
Is Echo the Next Clone Force 99 Member to Die?
Echo had a great story arc in The Bad Batch that even confirmed he officially left Clone Force 99. The end of The Bad Batch sees Echo leaving Pabu to Rex’s efforts in freeing other clones. However, this is the last time he’s seen in any of the Star Wars continuum. When Rex is seen in Rebels, he never mentions Echo, which means Echo's fate is a mystery.

A loyal clone soldier, Echo was captured by the Separatists and transformed into a tool that they used against the Republic. Rescued by Clone Force 99, Echo chose to the team, and - like most of that mutant squad - he was not affected by Order 66. Echo left the Bad Batch to work alongside early rebel cells.
Because the former ARC Trooper left with Rex, and Omega didn’t mention him when leaving Pabu in The Bad Batch’s epilogue, he likely died sometime in between. It’s unclear how or when Echo dies, but knowing where his story seems to be heading, it was likely fighting to free his brothers. It’s been hinted that Rex and Echo will be leading a Clone Rebellion, so audiences may see that, along with Echo’s death, in a future Star Wars title.
9 Were The Other Children Safely Reunited With Their Families?
It’s Not Known What Happened To Omega’s Friends
In The Bad Batch series finale, Hunter mentions that he and Rex are working on locating the families of the three other children who were being held in Mount Tantiss with Omega. However, there’s no indication that these families were ever found or that they remained free from the attentions of Imperial Inquisitors. It’s known that the Empire was aware of other Force-sensitive children and actively had them either killed or captured by Inquisitors. It’s unknown if any of these three children met that same fate.
None of these children resemble any of the Inquisitors seen in Rebels, so they at least don't seem to have ed up with the Empire. Hopefully, these children and their families eventually found the Hidden Path, which was introduced in Obi-Wan Kenobi as a secret underground railroad that helped protect former Jedi, Force-sensitive children, and their families. Jedi Master Quinlan Vos worked with the Path, and his association with Asajj Ventress means the children may even have come into with the former Sith assassin.
8 Why Do Rex, Gregor, & Wolfe End Up On Seelos?
There’s a Big Gap Between The Bad Batch and Rebels
Sometime before the beginning of Rebels Rex, Gregor, and Wolfe go to live on Seelos and spend their days hunting Joopas. It’s unclear how long they had been residing there, how they got there, or why they decided on Seelos instead of a different planet. In Rebels, Rex expresses sorrow about being one of the last clones, but it’s never fully explained.
As previously mentioned, it has been rumored that Captain Rex will get his own spin-off show which will show how he ended up on Seelos. If that doesn’t happen, audiences may never learn the truth. Filling in these gaps for audiences will really help finish off Rex’s decades-long character arc.
7 Where Is Asajj Ventress?
The Former Sith Apprentice’s Fate Is Unknown
Asajj Ventress made a surprise return in The Bad Batch season 3 after she was thought dead at the end of Christie Golden’s canon novel Dark Disciple. Ventress apparently went back to her Clone Wars career as a bounty hunter, but it seems she has a little more of an affinity for protecting Force-sensitive children like Omega. It’s unclear if she’s still connected with Jedi Master Quinlan Vos, but it would be great to see the pair onscreen together after their amazing story in Dark Disciple.

Hailing from the Nightsisters of Dathomir, Asajj Ventress became Count Dooku's apprentice during the Clone Wars. Betrayed by her master, she sought revenge - even forming a surprising alliance with Jedi Master Quinlan Vos at one point. Asajj has reinvented herself as a bounty hunter, and survived into the Dark Times of the Empire's reign.

The Bad Batch avoids saying where Ventress went after she encountered Clone Force 99 on Pabu, but Lucasfilm clearly has plans. Originally, Ventress was intended to return in Star Wars Resistance - which takes place around the time of the sequel trilogy in 34 ABY. So it’s possible the former Sith apprentice will make another appearance in Star Wars titles like Ahsoka season 2, or The Mandalorian & Grogu.
6 How Does Commander Wolffe End Up With Rex On Seelos?
The Last Audiences Saw Wolfe Was With The Empire
When Commander Wolfe was shown in The Bad Batch season 3 trailer, it was generally assumed he would defect from the Empire and ing Rex’s underground clone resistance. However, when Wolfe appeared, it was clear that wasn’t about to defect. He was still indoctrinated in the Empire’s message and was running errands for them. When coming face-to-face with Rex, Wolfe thought his friend was dead, and ordered his men to stand down and let Rex and his allies escape.
Rebels revealed that Wolffe will eventually end up living with Rex and Gregor on Seelos, but it’s still uncertain how they ended up there, or what happened to the other clones working with Rex. Additionally, it’s not known when or how Wolfe left the Empire. It’s possible he was forced to retire, or alternatively he may have gone AWOL and defected. Either way, this is likely a story Dave Filoni will want to tell some time in the future, when the dust has settled from Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Hopefully, audiences don’t have to wait too long though.
