Starfield is a massive game, but the main story can be beaten quickly, leading players to wonder what they should do next. You may have spent hours wandering and exploring the game already or rushed the main story before seeing what the rest of the game has to offer. Either way, there are still new things to see after beating the game.
Starfield has a sprawling map and many missions to complete, and players may wonder what they should be doing. As with many things in Starfield, you can often do whatever you want - good or bad. Beyond starting from scratch to do a full psychopath run of the game, there are still many hours worth of things to do with your current character.
7 Finish the Extra Quests
There are a lot of extra quests in Starfield, including Side Quests, Faction Quests, and Companion Quests. These are many and varied, and the Faction Quests, for example, have different quest lines associated with multiple factions. Companion Quests are an excellent way to marry one of your companions; if you haven’t done so already, this is your chance.
These are all great ways to explore the galaxy and earn good rewards, so if you haven’t finished them before the end of the story, be sure to check them out once you have. These quests have the same options and stories on a second play-through of the game, so playing them once the first time will give you a good idea of which ones to complete if you start a new game.
6 Complete Mission Board Quests
For those who want something new, there are several types of Mission Boards, and they will all give randomly generated quests, similar to the Radiant Quests in other Bethesda titles, such as Skyrim. These quests can be generalized, or they can be associated with certain factions, such as Constellation. These quests can take players to a new corner of the galaxy and are an excellent way to earn credits in Starfield.
5 Build an Epic Outpost
It can be quite extensive for those who have not delved too much into the upgrades for their Outposts and recruit crew to populate them so they can truly turn into something like a miniature city. This can be a fun mechanic to dive into at the end, as players will have much more unlocked and more credits to pour into it.
4 Explore Every Planet
With literally a thousand planets to explore, you can expect to spend hundreds of hours wandering them all. With the possibilities of more random encounters, generated bases, and new settlements to find, you do not need to worry about running out of new things to find for a long time. And almost every new planet can come with the possibility of building a new Outpost on it. So you can spend their days building a network of fully decked Ships and Outposts to build their own empires.
3 Complete The Fleet
Speaking of Ship networks, you can fill out your fleet with the best ships Starfield offers and customize them until they are a true man-of-war (or commerce). The Build Menu for the ships allows players freedom when customizing their ships. With the right combination of perks and abilities, you can spend a lot of time after the game being the iral of the biggest and best fleet in the galaxy.
2 Check Out Mods
Bethesda titles are notorious for custom mods, and Starfield is no exception. There are already mods flooding the Internet, including some that enhance performance or gameplay UI, but the longer the game is out, the more mods that add new content. This will be no surprise for long-time players of the Elder Scrolls series, but it is an excellent way to extend the game's playtime and potentially spice things up. To check out some of the best mods, YouTuber Syn Gaming has a weekly series highlighting some of the best.
1 Start a New Game+
The New Game Plus mode in Starfield is a new endeavor for Bethesda, and it does offer a new way to experience the main story. For various spoiler reasons, it is not called New Game Plus in the game, but you will reach a point where Starfield will give you the decision to continue exploring or start a new game. If you choose the latter, you can explore a fresh story, with new and exciting decisions in the main story and with some new experiences.
There is already a DLC planned for Starfield called Shattered Space, which is confirmed to be a story expansion. While there is not a release date currently, it will be available at a later date.
However, be aware that beyond the basic player stats (skills, level, background), everything else will be completely reset, forcing you to recollect and rebuild many of the things you have already done. Choose wisely when you want to start the New Game Plus or make a save just before you do so you can continue doing everything you want in Starfield.
