You Can Recruit Amelia Earhart In Starfield
Players can recruit historic aviator Amelia Earhart on their journeys through the galaxy in Starfield. Born in 1897, in Atchison, Kansas, Earhart became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean in 1937. She helped found the 99s International Organization of Women Pilots, encouraging more women to pursue careers in aviation. She was renowned, in her time as in this one, for her bravery and adventurous spirit. Unfortunately, she disappeared in 1937 while attempting to set another world record - becoming the first woman to circumnavigate the globe in an airplane - and was presumed dead two years later.
While many theories have proliferated in the years since Amelia Earhart's disappearance, Starfield finally has the answers. In actuality, the Amelia Earhart that appears in Starfield is a clone of the original, one of many historical figures who have been revived by a mysterious project called Operation Starseed. Players can meet and interact with many of them as part of a side quest in Starfield, and after completing it, can take Amelia Earhart with them on their adventures. She may not be the most useful companion, with two points in Piloting and Rifle Certification, but she's certainly a fun one.
How To Recruit Amelia Earhart In Starfield
In order to recruit Amelia Earhart, players will have to complete the quest "Operation Starseed." This quest begins with a mysterious transmission that players can randomly receive while traveling through space, directing them to offer assistance in the troubled colony of Crucible. They'll have to fly to Charybdis III, in a level 65 system that requires a serious grav drive and a skilled pilot to reach. Landing near Crucible starts a conversation with Tobias, a robot, who's interrupted by a character named Ada. Ada explains that everyone else in the settlement is cowering indoors, and directs the player character to the home of its leader, Franklin.
As it turns out, Franklin is a clone of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the 32nd President of the United States, and Ada is Ada Lovelace, a 19th-century mathematician who worked on theories of an early computer. They want all the historical clones to stay where they are until properly acclimated to their new, futuristic home. They're butting heads with the cloned Genghis Khan, who wants to conquer the stars as he conquered much of Asia in the 12th century, and the cloned queen of Kush Amanirenas, who wants to pick up where Operation Starseed left off. They all urge the player to repair the now-defunct Facility, where cloning operations took place.
Before they do so, however, Wyatt Earp, the Wild West marshall, wants to speak to them. He claims to know a terrible secret about FDR, and offers to meet the player character in a nearby cave. There, he reveals that he's none other than H.H. Holmes, the con man and murderer who lured many tourists to their deaths during the 1839 Chicago World's Fair. Holmes is none too happy to see the player character poking around, and tries to kill them before they can reveal his true identity to the other clones. They can either talk him down or fight him, then move on to the Facility.
The Facility is a typical dungeon crawl, infested with maggotmaws. Inside, there are seven slates that describe the history of Operation Starseed. Once they find all of them, the player character will hit a locked door to a restricted area. They'll need to travel back to Crucible and pick a side - Khan, Roosevelt, or Amanirenas - before continuing on. The code to the restricted area door is hidden on an abandoned ship called the Beagle, named after naturalist Charles Darwin's flagship. With the codes, they can open the door and fight their way to the control room, handing over the Facility to their selected historical leader.
Once that's all done, they can return to Crucible to collect their reward. Amelia Earhart doesn't much care who's in charge of the Facility. She just wants to head out and explore the stars. The player character can recruit her on the spot, and she'll follow them wherever they go for the rest of the game. She can also be assigned to a ship or an Outpost, but it's much more fun to have her around.
Can You Romance Amelia Earhart In Starfield?
Multiple crewmates can be romanced in Starfield with a high enough approval rating and the right dialogue choices. Unfortunately, Amelia Earhart is not one of them, and won't respond to the player character's advances. It's a bit of a shame, as her zeal for exploration and general friendliness make her a very likeable character. However, it's probably for the best that Amelia Earhart can't be romanced in Starfield, since she has a real-life legacy to protect.
Amelia Earhart is ed not only for her monumental accomplishments, but for her intrepid spirit. She's one of the best companions in the game, mostly due to her warm personality and fish-out-of-water dialogue options. As a born explorer and famed aviator, she's right at home exploring the galaxy, and makes a wonderful addition to Starfield's cast of characters.
