In Starfield, there are plenty of things to customize to make the experience feel more unique and one of these things is the ability to name your ship. However, doing so is not the easiest thing to figure out, so many players have had trouble tracking down where exactly the option to do so lies.

Renaming the ship is just one of many ways that Starfield allows personalization, so it's safe to say that this is something every player should seek out at some point to get the full experience. While it's hard to locate initially, the process itself is rather simple once players know where to look.

How To Rename The Ship

First and foremost, players will need to track down one of the many ship vendors, which is also where players may upgrade their ship in Starfield. While speaking with them, select the option indicating that you would like to view and modify the ship. This will open a new screen where the ship can be viewed as well as a menu. Select the option labeled "Ship Builder" first and then from there, select the option, "Flight Check" which should then bring players to the final option selection, renaming their ship.

Where most players seem to have trouble locating the option to rename the ship lies in the fact that it is hidden behind the Flight Check menu option which many would not assume to look into for this specific request. Once initiated, players will be able to rename their unlocked and chosen Starfield ship to their liking.

This can be re-done at any time by following the exact same steps again, speaking with a vendor, and going through the same menu options. That way should players change their mind about a ship's name at any point, they can fix it.

Note that the name of the ship will have no impact on gameplay or dialogue in any way. It is purely just a customizable option for players to make Starfield feel more immersive and customized. It is entirely optional and if there is no desire to rename it then it need not be worried about.
