ing Ryujin Industries in order of missions in Starfield. Regardless, you are incentivized to seek the company during your first hours of gameplay.

Ryujin Industries has a unique and compelling questline, focused on showing the annals of a corporate job. While you do apply for the job of an entry-level istrative assistant, there are certain turns of events that see you take on a different position in the company. While thematically distinct from the United Colonies quest in Starfield, there is some similarity in how these quests present themselves. You will start off as a rookie, but unexpected events will occur, and you will gradually gain more relevance to the solution of certain problems that arise. The UC will see you solving an intergalactic crisis, while Ryujin needs you for their corporate greed.

How To Start Ryujin Industries Quest In Starfield

Starfield's Imogene Salzo talking to the player inside Ryujin Tower.

If you are playing the Starfield in a reasonable order, at least unlocking New Atlantis, the odds are that the first mention of Ryujin Industries will happen while you explore the capital of the United Colonies. While wandering about in New Atlantis, you may overhear a conversation in which an NPC praises Ryujin Industries and talks about the benefits of working for the private sector.

This will automatically unlock the “Back to the Grind” quest and direct you to the Ryujin Industries questline. The first order of business is applying for a job at the company. To submit your application, you can use the Ryujin Industries kiosk in New Atlantis.

Upon unlocking the quest, you should access your quest log (open the main menu and click on the button directly beneath your character avatar) and start tracking the “Back to the Grind” quest.

The kiosk can be found between the MAST and Commercial districts. After interacting with the totem, there will be a series of questions that need to be answered, including your experience with certain abilities and interest in the company. Nevertheless, what you answer here does not really matter – the absolute worst answers for an interview process were tested by ScreenRant, claiming no experience and nearly no interest, and the next step of the Starfield mission was still triggered anyway. Regardless of the answers provided in the job application process, you will be directed to an in-person interview with Imogene Salzo at Ryujin Tower in Neon.

It is important to note that early players will not be able to make a single direct jump to the Volii system, where Neon is located. Instead, you will need to first jump to the Olympus system, which is connected to the Alpha Centauri system (where New Atlantis is located).

This is needed to the route to Volii. By jumping to the Olympus system, you will unlock Nesoi and the Almagest Space Station in Starfield. Upon arrival, you can sidetrack and explore or simply ignore it for now and then go to Volii. To reach the Volii system, you will need to power up your ship’s grav drive.

You will be scanned as soon as you arrive in the Volii system, so there may be problems if you are carrying contraband on yourself or the ship.

If you are having trouble activating your grav drive, you need only take a few points away from your ship’s weapon systems and attribute them to grav. After getting clearance in the Volii system, you will be allowed to land on Neon. From the spaceport where your ship landed, you will be able to see Ryujin Industries’ Tower to the far right of the city.

The “Back to the Grind” mission in Starfield really should be tracked, as this will help you navigate the streets of this colorful and rather distracting city. Before exiting the spaceport, you will notice an NPC called Neshar Omani being arrested for smuggling illegal items.

If you watch the full interaction, you will unlock another side quest in Starfield, unrelated to Ryujin Industries. The next step is taking the elevator down and, once arriving at street level, head left. The destination is at the far end of the road. While your application at the Ryujin kiosk in New Atlantis is the most likely way of activating this questline naturally, you can also jump straight to Neon and submit your application in the kiosk found in Ryujin Tower’s lobby. Next, you need to take the elevator to the Operations level. There, you can talk to the receptionist, Lane Garza, who will explain the path.

Garza also offers to take you to Imogene’s office. If this option is selected, they will briefly talk more about Ryujin’s operations as they walk.

Inside the office, you will need to sit in the chair to start the interview for Ryujin Industries in Starfield. The answers given during the interview really do not matter, much like the ones provided in the application itself, and Imogene will hire you even if you show a severe lack of interest in the company.

After being hired, you get your first job: picking up coffee at the local shop in Neon. You will need to exit Ryujin Tower, by returning to the ground level and following the street for a while until you reach TerraBrew Coffee.

While picking up coffee, you will be interrupted by Tomo, the man who used to occupy your current position at Ryujin. He is extremely disgruntled over the fact that he lost his job and sees you as unfit for the position. Eventually, Tomo snaps and pulls a gun on you. You can try to persuade him to leave or simply react, killing him on the spot.

Regardless of what transpires, you need to go back to the attendant TerraBrew Coffee, pick up the order, and then return to Imogene in Starfield. Imogene will already know what happened at the coffee shop, so you can either be honest or lie.

You will instantly be promoted to Junior Operative, a role in Ryujin Industries meant to “add influence” to situations so that the company comes out on top. In essence, you are a private mercenary, hacker, and saboteur. You will then need to meet four new NPCs, interact with them, and return to Imogene.

This will conclude “Back to the Grind” and unlock the next mission in the questline, which involves sabotaging data in CeltCorp, their competitors. From this point on, however, you are already a proud operative of Ryujin Industries in Starfield.
