There are a lot of cool, flashy rides zipping around Night City in steal cars right off the street in Cyberpunk 2077, even if there is someone currently inside it without much of a penalty. However, unlike most open-world games that allow players to keep the vehicles they steal, once V leaves the vehicle, it will disappear and they will need to grab another to get to their next destination.

Stealing a car in Cyberpunk 2077 is a fairly easy process already, but it will require players to invest some of their hard-earned skill points. Skill points are earned from leveling up, and players choose how to divide them among five attributes for V: Body, Reflexes, Technical Ability, Intelligence, and Cool. For certain vehicles, players can only pull off a successful theft if they have a high enough Technical Ability level. Players will also need a high enough Body score in case they need to steel an occupied vehicle. Players also have the option to purchase their own vehicle they can summon any time if they would prefer. Here's how to steal cars easily in Cyberpunk 2077.

How to Steal Cars in Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 Futuristic Cars

The safest and easiest way to steal a car in Cyberpunk 2077 is to find one left parked and unattended on the side of the road. This way, players do not have to contend with the car owner and can just focus on stealing the vehicle and quickly getting to their destination.

Players will need to level V's Technical Ability score to steal a parked car. The level required will vary based on each vehicle, but, in general, the more technologically advanced or luxury vehicles require higher Technical Ability. Each car's required level will appear as V gets close to it. As long as V has the right Technical Ability level, players can get close to the car and follow the button prompts to unlock it.

There is also always a chance the car will have been left unlocked by the owner. In these cases, no Technical Ability is required, and V can simply open the door and get in. Players should note they are not able to steal public transport vehicles, though all other cars and bikes are available with the right level attributes.

If players prefer, they can also choose to steal a ing car, but they will first need to evict the driver. Like the required Technical Ability level, players can also see the required Body level to yank the driver out of a ing car and commandeer it on each kind of vehicle. The car's owner can report the theft to teleporting police who arrive on the scene quickly, which will result in a chase. Players will want to avoid lingering in the area and get far enough away to avoid the police.

Once players steal a car, it is theirs for as long as V stays in the driver's seat. Once V exits the car, it will disappear. Unfortunately, there is no way to keep stolen cars and use them later. Instead, players who want to have a more consistent, less illegal form of transportation will want to purchase a car using their saved credits. Players will receive messages about purchasing various vehicles no vehicle can beat walking.
