However, Floyd has come prepared and hits Jonathan with a synthetic kryptonite capsule, immediately bringing the Kryptonian hero down. Jon can barely catch his breath while Deadshot remarks they're not that bad and that it would have taken at least a few to bring down Superman.

There’s little doubt that Superman is the strongest hero around. However, the arrival of Clark’s son began to raise some interesting questions, particularly if Jon would be able to sur his father. Not long after he arrived in the DC Universe, Jon was aged up into a young man and the comparisons to his father only grew. Jon was able to successfully fill the void left by his father when Superman left to liberate Warworld. The junior Man of Steel even developed a couple of unique powers that made it seem like Jon was destined to be stronger than Superman.

One would think that because Jon is half-human, he'd reasonably be less vulnerable to kryptonite. But it looks like he got the short end of the stick and appears to actually be more vulnerable instead. Deadshot's a seasoned professional and no stranger to taking on metahumans, so his information regarding Superman's kryptonite tolerance probably isn't too far from the truth. Synthetic kryptonite might not do as much damage to Clark, but in Jon's case, it's a viable way of defeating him. This is a pretty huge indicator that, for all the progress Jon has made, he’s not stronger than Superman.

Of course, Jon is still quite a bit younger than Superman and there's nothing that says he couldn't develop a better tolerance for kryptonite later. But as things stand right now, Jon just can't deal with kryptonite the way his father can. That doesn't dismiss all the wonderful feats and stunts Jon has been able to achieve, but it does confirm that he's still miles away from suring his father. Maybe one day, Jon will be able to handle kryptonite the way Clark does, but until then, Superman remains more powerful than the Super Son.
