Warning! Spoilers ahead for Suits LA Episode 6, "Dester"

Somehow, Suits' 2023 streaming resurgence, and it takes place in the same reality as the New York-based series, it is very different from the flagship series. Ted Black was poised to be the West Coast version of Harvey Specter, but Suits LA hasn't really established that, primarily because of how its story started. Unlike Suits, its spinoff kicked off with its lead in a crisis, and he has been trying to survive since then.

The Suits LA pilot ended with Ted being betrayed by his long-time partner and supposed friend, Stuart Lane. They were supposed to be part of a major merger with Samantha Railback — Ted's former girlfriend. At the very last minute, however, Ted and Sam decided to cut Ted from the deal, leaving him along with Black & Associate. Ted has had to rely on other people's help throughout this time, especially as he also represented a high-profile Hollwyood case that involved Lester, a producer, being accused of murdering his partner. Somehow, however, Suits LA solves all of this in episode 6.

Suits LA Episode 6 Sees Ted & Stuart Finally Patching Things Up

Stuart Mellows Down On Ted

Originally, Stuart was supposed to represent Lester in court, since he is a criminal lawyer, while Ted specializes in entertainment. Due to the breakdown of their partnership, however, Ted took back the case, even though he always knew that his former friend had a better chance of winning it than him, simply because he is more equipped in this kind of matter. Ted has to reach out to several other people for help, including Amanda and his New York ally, Kevin. In Suits LA episode 6, however, he is left with no choice but to reach back out to Stuart.

Wow, Suits LA's Villain Makes Louis Look Like A Saint Despite Everything He Did In Suits

Suits LA premieres with a major plot twist, and suddenly, I don't think Louis was not that horrible in the original legal drama anymore.

Ted and Stuart get into a heated argument before working together to crack the case. Suits LA episode 6 doesn't really show how they spent the rest of the time working on the case, but just before Stuart realizes how to win it, Ted comes to his senses and apologizes for never giving him and his work the respect they deserve. Surprisingly, the criminal lawyer is receptive. Later on, Stuart tells Rick that he and Ted have patched things up, which Bryan Greenberg's character doesn't argue against. Instead, he just looks thrilled that the issue has been resolved.

Ted & Samanta Resolve Their Own Lingering Issue In Suits LA Episode 6

Suits LA Starts To Set Up Ted & Samantha's Romantic Reunion

Stuart isn't the only person that Ted has patched things up with in Suits LA episode 6. "Dester" ends with the couple sharing an embrace. The spinoff has revealed through flashbacks how she was involved in the mob case that defined Ted's time in New York, which also contributed to their break-up. Despite that, it's clear that there's still love between the pair, which has been heavily set up in recent episodes, as they continue communicating beyond professional matters. Although ittedly, it's a little odd, considering Ted's developing professional and personal relationship with Amanda.

However, after sorting out his feud with Stuart and winning Lester's overly complicated case, he rushes to Samantha's office and emotionally its to her that it was actually his fault that her client got killed.

In Suits LA epiosde 6, it becomes clearer that Samantha's animosity towards Ted stems from his refusal to take responsibility for how his client became collateral damage in his conflict with the New York mob. However, after sorting out his feud with Stuart and winning Lester's overly complicated case, he rushes to Samantha's office and emotionally its to her that it was actually his fault that her client got killed. Somehow, this is enough for her to forgive him and put all their animosity behind them.

What Do These Developments Mean For Suits LA's Future?

Suits LA's Story Can Now Move On

Stephen Amell as Ted Black on the phone in Suits LA

ittedly, it's a bit shocking that 2 of the major conflicts in the spinoff have already been resolved. Somehow, it's a relief that the Suits LA story can finally move on to other things. Now that Lester's case is also done, and Ted's respective relationships with both Stuart and Samantha are fixed, it can now shift towards a more procedural narrative format, with the focus on tackling various Hollywood cases, which is arguably its most interesting concept.

After Gabriel Macht's debut, Suits LA episode 5 totally ignores Harvey Specter's character, understandably raising questions about his whereabouts.

That said, there's also something a bit offputting about how Suits LA has quickly fixed these storylines, when the show built them up to be massive plots that could play for much longer. Stuart and Samantha were so mad at Ted that they not only cut him off from a big merger, but also sabotaged his chances of being successful when they poached Rick and tried doing the same with Erica. Then again, at least now, viewers have a clear view of whom to root for moving forward.
