Could A Suits Movie Actually Happen?
Suits’ Streaming Success Could Open Many Doors
It remains to be seen if the Suits cast reunites for a proper follow-up, whether it is a movie or a television show. However, there are several factors pointing to a high likelihood of something like the possible follow-up movie being able to happen. For one thing, many original cast have shown a willingness to reunite. In addition to the ATX event, recent commercials have featured multiple cast from the show, with Adams and Macht promoting T-Mobile while Rafferty, Gina Torres, and Rick Hoffman all appeared together in an e.l.f. commercial.
One major hurdle to a full Suits reunion is the fact that Markle quit acting when she married Prince Harry in 2018, leaving the show after season 7.
It has also been relatively common for follow-up movies to USA Network shows to be mounted in recent years. In addition to a trio of Psych movies between 2017 and 2021, a Monk follow-up movie titled Mr. Monk's Last Case premiered in 2023. It is possible that Suits could follow suit and spawn a movie or even a franchise of movies, though the latter possibility is much less common for movie sequels to television shows.
The most likely hurdle to a movie coming together reasonably quickly, beyond Markle's absence, would likely be the fact that the Suits Netflix success has already inspired a follow-up. A spinoff titled Suits: L.A., which stars Stephen Amell, has already had a pilot ordered at NBC. While it remains to be seen if the show is picked up to series, if it does, it seems likely that a movie may be delayed so as not to compete with the new project.
