The show has had its equal share of trauma, from memorable deaths to villainous betrayals. However, these dark moments only work when there are also events that create significant happiness. Often based on personal character arcs rather than gimmick-led fan service, these heartwarming moments will live on well past the show itself.

The Man Of Steel's Pride

Superman was off the scene for quite some time so that the show could establish Supergirl as a worthy Kryptonian warrior in her own right. When Kara's cousin finally did emerge, no one quite knew what to expect from this shifting dynamic.

However, after a tremendous battle between the two (through no fault of Clark Kent), Supergirl would come out victorious. In a touching moment, Superman officially es the baton on to Kara, noting that she is more inspirational and a stronger hero than he could ever be.

Lena's Forgiveness

Lena had been betrayed one too many times. After her brother, her mother, and her closest friends all turned their back on her, Kara really was the final straw. Her hidden identity was always going to cause trouble, but the revelation that Kara was Supergirl almost turned Lena into a supervillain.

After a great deal of conflict, Lena would eventually come to forgive Kara and likewise, the Girl of Steel would show her for the best Luthor. Their friendship began to heal in a moment that made fans rejoice, finally seeing these allies building bridges once more.

Winn's Return

While anything linked to time travel and a futuristic superhero team isn't exactly realistic, the most authentic piece of this narrative is the return of Winn. Going by Computer Lad and later Toyman, Winn had traveled into the future timeline to help the Legion of Superheros.

In his time there, he had started a family and created a new life for himself. It was brilliant to see his return, though, so that fans could appreciate how far the character had come. Winn was the missing piece of the puzzle for Team Supergirl and received a welcome comeback.

J'onn's Family Reunion

J'onn J'onzz believed that he was the last Martian for a long time. While his nefarious brother was out there somewhere, a bigger revelation was that J'onn's own father was being kept alive by the White Martians. His eventual recovery was both heartwarming and heartbreaking.

To see the Martian Manhunter reunited with family for the first time again was nothing short of miraculous. It was bittersweet due to his dad's health at the time, but nonetheless, it was a joy to see J'onn happy in the company of his family.

Super Friends

The Flash Supergirl Musical Crossover

A couple of Kara's most notable episodes includes her super friend, the Scarlet Speedster. The appearance of the Flash on Supergirl was definitely a surprise, but in each scene that these heroes shared on-screen, natural chemistry was beginning to form.

Their friendship has been solidified throughout their careers alongside one another and was perhaps cemented during their battle against the Music Meister. Needless to say, any time this duo shares an episode, it's sure to make for a wholesome moment.

Kara's Heritage Restored

A huge plot point throughout most of Supergirl's own arc was the fact that she was a hero without a people. Krypton was seemingly gone and her family was presumed dead. Mysterious dreams began to haunt Kara, hinting towards the fact that there could be more Kryptonians out there.

It was revealed that some of Kara's people had survived on Argo City, including her mother. It was such a happy moment to see the show give Kara what she wanted most — her heritage restored and her family revived. While it was later dropped as a major narrative beat it was still vital at the time to Kara's own story.

Alex Coming Out

Alex and Kara Danvers talking in Supergirl

Alex had begun to question her own sexuality throughout the show's first couple of seasons. When she finally understood herself she was most anxious and excited to talk to Kara about it. Her sister was perhaps her closest friend in the world and this was a big moment for Alex.

Many have praised the scene for its authenticity, with the moment that Alex came out to Kara, and her sister completely ing heartwarming to watch. It was huge for both characters and demonstrated that Alex felt comfortable being herself.

Jimmy's Happy Ending

James Olsen's Farewell in Supergirl

Jimmy Olsen had a wild ride throughout his time on Supergirl. Originally a love interest to Kara and a way to connect Supergirl's world to Clark Kent, his role continued to evolve. He would later become a vital member of the CatCo staff and leadership team, and later suiting up as the vigilante Guardian.

Olsen finally left the show on a happy note. It may have been bittersweet since the series was losing such a great character, but this was the correct choice in the end. James took over an old newspaper he once worked for, solving small-town problems and making a real difference, much to his own joy.

Nia And Brainy's Romance

Nia and Brainy seemed to flirt with the idea of a relationship but hadn't taken the leap that they needed to. For the alien Brainiac 5, these sets of emotions were something he was unfamiliar with. Nia had to guide him in many ways, with a romance forming between the two in the end.

Alas, it wasn't meant to be, with the couple splitting up despite itting to a deeper emotional connection. It was definitely a heartwarming moment to see them get together, though, and hopefully, this love story has a happy ending.

Cat Grant's Approval

Cat Grant had been Kara's terrifying boss at CatCo. She clearly saw potential in the Girl of Steel but was incredibly hard on her. Their relationship evolved throughout Cat's time on the show, until she announced that she would be moving on to new ventures.

As Cat was leaving she gave Kara her full and even revealed that she was very aware of her employee's alternate identity. Kara's mentor had taught her everything she needed to know and she had finally gained both her approval and respect.
