DC's Supergirl. Future State: Superman of Metropolis #2 will also see the son of Superman clashing with the spawn of Brainiac known as Braincells, who seems to have the ability to influence the Kryptonians.
The preview for Superman of Metropolis #1 revealed that Jon Kent will hold a strong amount of fear and paranoia after seeing what Jon will go full Brainiac and bottle up the city in order to "keep it safe." Naturally, this has angered Supergirl, but it seems as though Jon is resolved in his choice, despite the moral implications of miniaturizing and bottling an entire population against their will.
Now, readers can ascertain that much of this fear has been influenced beyond the norm due to the reveal that Jon will be fighting the spawn of Brainiac known as the Braincells. Not only that, but Supergirl will be under their control as well in Future State: Superman of Metropolis #2 from Sean Lewis and John Timms. Here's the cover art from Inhyuk Lee:

- Braincells, the advanced offshoot of the diabolical Brainiac, continues to lure Jonathan Kent down the wrong path—but things go from bad to this can’t get any worse when it appears it has also taken some manner of control over Supergirl! If the Kryptonians clash, nothing will be able to protect the bottled city of Metropolis!
According to the synopsis, the Braincells are "continuing to lure Jonathan Kent down the wrong path," indicating that they were the ones who most likely planted the idea in Jon's head to bottle up Metropolis. However, it seems as though they'll also have an even stronger hold on Supergirl, influencing her to fight the new Superman. DC Fans know all about the insane levels of destruction two Kryptonians at war can cause in Metropolis, so who knows what could happen to the city when it's already miniaturized?
In any case, it now makes sense why Jon will make such a drastic and Brainiac-style move against the very people he's trying to protect, as he'll be trying to resist the attacks and control of Brainiac's spawn. While Metropolis may perhaps be safer from the rest of the world, they don't have their freedom in DC's Future State. Not only that, but there has to be a sinister reason for the Braincells' involvement, and it's more than likely that they want the city for themselves. Here's hoping that the new Superman and Supergirl can break free of their control and restore Metropolis to what it once was.
