With the release of the new Superman trailer finally out now, fans have been making memes about the biggest and best reveals, and some are truly hilarious. The DCU may have been announced as a reborn DCEU all the way back in 2022, but it wasn't until 2024 that the first official project dropped with Creature Commandos. And now, 2025 will see Superman officially kick off the theatrical side of the DCU.
However, up to this point, the only image of David Corenswet's Superman was a single static poster released as a teaser, leaving creative fans with very little to work with. Now that the trailer is out, and some scenes from the film revealed, meme makers have been hard at work. Within 24 hours of the trailer being out, dozens of hilarious memes were made, highlighting the best and funniest moments from the Superman trailer.
10 Green Lantern's Dumb And Dumber Tribute
Dumb & Dumber Homage
BossLogic is well known for his incredible designs and posters, so when he weighs in on a thing like the Superman trailer, people take notice. For BossLogic, he praised the trailer, saying "Loved it all," however, he did point out a comparison that is way too similar. The popular 1994 film, Dumb and Dumber starred Jim Carrey as a dimwitted man with an outlandish haircut, and Nathan Fillion's new Green Lantern has a lot in common.

What did you think of Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor in the new Superman trailer?
The new teaser trailer for 2025's Superman features the first look at Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor, bald head and all. While I was initially on the fence about the casting, getting to see Hoult in action as Lex was awesome, and I'm very excited to see more. He truly looks unhinged with a major bone to pick with the Man of Steel.
Fillion is playing a lesser known Green Lantern from the comics named Guy Gardner. And in the comics, Gardner is often depicted with a bowl cut. But, a lot of things get adapted and changed when they move from the comic book page to real life, and this goofy haircut feels like it should have been left in the comics.
9 Krypto Is A Super Good Boy
Man's Best Super Friend
One of the most talked about scenes from the trailer has to be Krypto coming to rescue Superman, dragging him by his cape to take him home. The entire scene sparked a lot of emotions, joy, curiosity, adoration for this adorable puppy, and for many, a lot of laughs. The idea of this little dog coming and taking his master home, especially dragging him by the cape is just inherently funny.
The scene is absurd, but the relaxed state of everyone involved takes the joke up to 11, and it's a perfect representation of that same scene in the trailer.
But X @ReneusMeister took things a step further with this video that has the same energy, and manages to be even funnier. While presumably the owner of the truck and dog is taking a rest and checking their phone, the dog, in full work attire, is driving them home. The scene is absurd, but the relaxed state of everyone involved takes the joke up to 11, and it's a perfect representation of that same scene in the trailer.
8 It's Super Easy To Hide Your Identity, Barely An inconvenience
Clark Kent: Master of Disguise
For decades, the debate about Clark Kent's disguise has raged on. By simply putting on a pair of glasses, how can they fool the entire world, and those closest to Clark, into never connecting the dots. At the very least, people should always be commenting about how Clark looks just like Superman, but somehow, a simple pair of glasses is enough to completely conceal his identity.

Who Is Mister Terrific & How Powerful Is He Compared To Superman
Mister Terrific makes his big-screen debut in James Gunn's Superman, where he shows off his genius-level intellect and futuristic technology.
The same criticism was leveled towards Corenswet's Clark Kent when leaked set photos started circulating online. However, the trailer is the first time officially that Corenswet's Clark has been revealed, and now with some movement and awkwardness, it's starting to paint a picture of how this disguise holds up. Despite this, it's still pretty wild to think adding a simple accessory can make everyone clueless, but at least it makes for fun meme fodder.
7 Protect Krypto At All Costs!
Krypto: Guardian of Metropolis
Going back to Krypto, this beautiful white pup has stolen hearts all over the internet and the world. For many, his debut in the DCU stole the show, and he stands out as one of the absolute best parts of the Superman movie.
Much of the internet is in consensus that Krypto needs to be protected at all costs.
Here, the meme takes a template from Brooklyn Nine-Nine where Rosa Diaz is holding her new puppy, Arlo. Rosa makes it clear that despite only having had Arlo for a day, she is very attached. And in this edit, Arlo is swapped out for Krypto to explain exactly how everyone is feeling about Superman's best little buddy.
6 Goku, Is That You?
Goku vs. Superman
Superman is such a meaningful part of pop culture that the character has been included in endless conversations about "who would win in a fight?" While Batman versus Superman is a popular debate that has often had the answer flip depending on 'prep time,' another contender who is much more evenly matched comes from a whole different genre of comics. Goku, from the Dragon Ball manga and anime, is a much more evenly matched opponent in of powers, so it seems only right to have a meme that crosses over between these two worlds.
In the above image, the picture on the right is actually a ing character called Yamcha, who was an antagonist before he decided to forces with Goku and train with him. However, in a brutal battle with a Saibaman, Yamcha was fatally wounded, and this image with the figure curled up in a crater was the widely shared result. Despite some differences in terrain and costume, it actually has a lot in common with the image from the Superman trailer, with their pose and position of each limb almost matching exactly.
5 The Substance Connection In Superman
A Tale of Two Substances
As much as fans have been praising Krypto and his loyalty to his friend, the image of the tiny dog dragging the literal Superman has also sparked people's imaginations and called back to other images. Earlier in 2024, a horror movie included a scene where a frail old woman dragged a young, healthy and fit body with remarkable speed and strength. And @celestialdevils pointed out the connection that is now hard to unsee.
This link is bizarre, as was the scene in the movie, The Substance, but it's hard to deny the connection. While the vibe of this moment will very likely inspire completely different feelings in the actual movie, and even from the trailer with the epic scoring by John Williams, it's funny to note the same energy from these two scenes.
4 That Moment When Superman Whistles...
Superman's Whistling: Iconic Moment
Yes, seeing the defeated Superman whistle to call his loyal companion to rush to his side and help is iconic, and yes, Krypto is adorable, but, the moments leading up to this, with Krypto rushing through the snow like a supersonic snow plow was a little odd. At the very least, this scene lingered on Krypto rushing towards Superman for too long, as it was just a snow cloud in the distance building up the intensity. While those seeing the film in theaters may appreciate the 7 or so seconds it takes for Krypto to come, the audience for the trailer had a lot less time with the characters.
For that reason, this scene appears to drag, taking up a lot of space in the 2 minute and 20 second runtime, before Krypto just appears beside Superman anyway. This means that it feels a little slow, and the build up is overly intense for what it is, and @DCFilmNews had the perfect fix to lighten the tone and make the scene more snappy. Instead of a near invisible Krypto running in the distance, Tom Cruise is seen going at full speed, and it's just too funny to not include this post here.
3 We Have To Agree, The Winner Is Clear
Undisputed Champion
As important as it is to get the hero right in Superman, it is just as important to get his nemesis right. Lex Luthor is a man who has no inherent powers or gifts, but he does have an enormous fortune, and a spectacular intellect that makes him a worthy foe. But it isn't enough to be clever and rich, Lex needs to be a menace who inspires fear, and Nicholas Hoult has the acting chops to do just that.
Pairing Eisenberg up with Henry Cavill's Superman may have been one of the most mismatched castings in the DCEU.
Meanwhile, when the DCEU tried to introduce the incredibly talented Jesse Eisenberg in the role of Lex, they ended up playing a more kooky version rather than someone who was actually a threat. Pairing Eisenberg up with Henry Cavill's Superman may have been one of the most mismatched castings in the DCEU, but the DCU has already remedied that with Hoult's casting.
2 Krypto Is Superman's Best Friend For A Reason
Loyalty Beyond Compare
The final Krypto meme doesn't actually include the dog at all, but it does prove why Superman's best buddy is a dog, and not a cat. When Superman whistles to Krypto, his loyal companion comes running at top speed. Within moments, the dog arrives ready to do as his master instructs, and helps protect him from further harm or injury. This is a totally believable and in-character reaction for a dog.
However, had Superman gotten a cat as his super friend instead of a dog, this scene may have played out very differently. Taking the scene in three parts to tell a comic book strip-style story, @NewsM101 propositions Superman trying to call his pet cat, while they stare, emotionless, at their owner. And the final image shows the result, as Superman is left to simply dissintegrate in the snow.
1 DC Is So Back With Its Latest Movies
A New Era of Heroes
Finally, the last meme is a simple tribute to some of the most recent projects to come from DC, with Matt Reeves' The Batman on one side, and James Gunn's Superman on the other. The Batman came out in 2022, but because of its detachment from the DCEU, it has been allowed to carry forward into the new DC Studios era, under the banner, DCU Elseworlds. The Batman Part II is expected to be released in 2026.
It's fair to say that the DCEU had more than its fair share of flops, and with recent movies from the MCU taking a nosedive in quality, the DCU is ready to swoop in and steal the top spot as the best superhero franchise in Hollywood. However, things hinge on the success of the Superman movie to set the tone for this new franchise, and try to get the spark back for DC movies. And if fan engagement with the trailer is anything to go by, there's a good chance the DCU is about to step things up.
