James Gunn addresses the emergence of a new the first Superman trailer, as the movie is currently in the post-production stages. With one of the biggest events coming up with CCXP in Brazil, many have been wondering if Superman would have a presence there at all, despite Gunn stating that he would not be going.

Comic book artist George Quadros recently shared on his social media pages a new Superman poster featuring David Corenswet's last son of Krypton stopping a train. The original post suggested that this may have been an official Superman poster for Gunn's movie, while also adding that it would be available at CCXP. Check it out below.

The shot of Corenswet's Superman stopping the train is a nod to the set photos that emerged earlier this year, where a newspaper was spotted during filming with the Man of Steel saving the day. But whether or not this Superman poster was actually officially commissioned by DC Studios became the bigger mystery.

James Gunn On Superman Movie CCXP Poster

Since neither Gunn, Warner Bros. Discovery, nor DC's official social media s shared the Superman poster, many fans began to inquire with the director if this was actually officially part of the marketing for the film. It didn't take long for Gunn to clarify that the Superman poster is not official, stating, "It’s George Quadros. It’s not official but it is cool."

James Gunn Confirms Superman Posters Are Ready To Go

Ever since Superman finished principal photography earlier this year, fans have been waiting for Gunn's Superman movie marketing campaign to begin. Luckily, Gunn has been keeping the audience updated through social media on how the process is coming along. Following the poster debunking, one Threads asked Gunn, "Do you guys already have your posters that you know are gonna be the official ones you are gonna release for the film or is that decided till later? I imagine there's been ideas and concepts thrown around for a while but I wonder if you have anything concrete, ready to go."

Superman Posters Are Ready Per James Gunn

Thankfully, Gunn responded with a concrete answer: "Some are done, yes," confirming that the marketing team has already completed some Superman posters, with more still being worked on. Whether or not a Superman teaser poster will be released anytime soon remains to be seen, as Gunn didn't offer any time window for fans to expect to see that type of marketing material. However, if it is true that a Superman trailer is debuting in December, it's hard to imagine a poster not being attached to a Superman trailer release.

Our Take On The Superman Viral Poster

James Gunn's New Version of the Superman Movie Logo

While the Superman poster by Quadros is absolutely stunning and an incredible recreation of what will hopefully be seen in the film, this exact quality is likely what led viewers to believe it could indeed be an official poster for the film. This confusion reinforces why it's a good thing for James Gunn to be open about what stage various DCU releases are at, as it ensures he can address questions when they arise, as they did here. Hopefully, before 2024 is over, the new Superman trailer that is reportedly arriving in December will also include the first official poster for the film.
