There are plenty of beloved couples on television, but most comedies don't revolve around a love story. However, Jonah and Amy were the beating heart of Superstore and made the show feel more like a rom-com than a sitcom. But "Simmosa" wasn't the only romance, and there were plenty of characters who had great chemistry.
The show did an excellent job at pairing the couples together, and fans couldn't imagine the series ending any other way. With an ensemble as big as Superstore's, there were plenty of characters who could have dated but never would have worked out in the long run.
Dina And Jonah
After watching the entire series, it's hard to believe that Dina once had a crush on Jonah. She spent the entire first season pining for him and falsely believed that he felt the same way. So as not to hurt her feelings, Jonah told Dina they couldn't be together because she was his superior.
But when Dina steps down to be with him, Jonah is forced to tell the truth. After that incident, Dina finds Jonah wimpy and annoying and insults him like all the other employees. Jonah marries Amy, Dina's best friend, and it could have been awkward if he and Dina had an actual romance beforehand.
Garrett And Amy
Garrett and Amy are one of the most platonic pairs in Superstore. Although the show doesn't go out of its way to emphasize their friendship, Garrett and Amy worked side by side for over a decade.
There's a level of comfort between them that feels familial, but because it's so natural, it's in the background. Garrett doesn't get hurt easily, but he was offended when Amy returned to Cloud 9 and never greeted him, specifically. They have a sibling-like bond, which would have made a romance feel strange.
Cheyenne And Cole
Thankfully, Bo came back to the store before this relationship could officially take off. When Cheyenne started having doubts about Bo's commitment to her and their unborn baby, Amy suggested that she find someone more responsible.
Of course, Amy never imagined that someone would be Cheyenne's old teacher. Though they were both adults during the relationship, it still felt quite creepy. If Cheyenne had decided to be with Cole over Bo, there's almost no situation where the relationship wouldn't implode.
Amy And Marcus
Marcus hit on Amy throughout the entire series, but he was emotionally attached to Jonah more than anyone else. Ironically, Marcus challenges Jonah to a series of games and sets Amy as the prize, which is not a great way to go about things. After Marcus wins, Jonah loses his composure for the first time in the series and yells at him over Amy.
But it doesn't deter Marcus, and he continues to flirt with her even though Amy shoots him down every time. If Amy had actually expressed interest in him, they would have been the oddest couple in the history of the show.
Dina And Ken
Dina and Ken didn't share a lot of scenes, as Ken was only featured in a handful of episodes throughout the series. Ken is the security guard, but he's scared of more things than most of the workers.
Dina often takes security into her own hands, and there's no way she would ever be able to respect someone like Ken. The two are such polar opposites that even a friendship between them feels impossible.
Jonah And Mateo
Jonah offered to marry Mateo to help him become an American citizen, but Mateo denied his offer. In fact, his response was, "ew." Given that Mateo wouldn't even marry Jonah when it could stop him from deported, it's safe to say they wouldn't work romantically.
Jonah is much too soft and caring for Mateo, as Mateo thrives off of insults and snark. Sometimes, it makes him funny, but other times, it just makes him downright mean. Jonah is a softer individual and probably wouldn't jive with Mateo's more intense personality.
Glenn And Dina
It's downright impossible to ever picture a world where either Dina or Glenn would want to date each other. Glenn is twenty years her senior, which puts them in two different life stages, and they couldn't stand each other most of the time.
They spend most of their work hours together since Dina is his assistant manager, but Glenn hates the way that Dina treats him. Dina was Glenn and Jerusha's surrogate, and they do care for each other, but just the thought of a romance between them feels unnatural.
Kelly And Amy
Amy always lashed out at Kelly, which was partially due to her dating Jonah. However, Amy didn't like Kelly even after she and Jonah broke up. When she got called out by Dina for being ruder, she tried to be nicer to her.
Despite this, they're complete opposites, and while sometimes opposites do attract, Amy and Kelly clash in every way.
Marcus And Jonah
Although A running gag throughout the show is that Marcus always acts like they're in a committed relationship.
Jonah doesn't return the sentiment though and can't even handle being around Marcus for an extended period of time. Jonah wasn't proud of the fact that he and Marcus were roommates, but Marcus wanted to proclaim it to the world. It could easily be argued that Marcus loves Jonah, but the relationship would be unequal.
