Resources within Valheim can often be precious and needed for specific crafts like the Surtling Cores. These cores are used to make a number of various items and buildings. The most common reason players will want to gather this resource is for important structures such as the Blast Furnace, Smelter, and Portals. However, this useful resource isn't always easy to find.

Hopefully, with a push in the right direction, it will become much easier. Luckily, there are lots of different places that can spawn Surtling Cores for players to find. The biggest thing is using the resource wisely, as it will not respawn once picked up.

Where To Find Surtling Cores In Valheim

Valheim Surtling Cores

Surtling Cores, as they might sound can be dropped by Surtlings. Surtlings are small fire elemental monsters that throw fireballs at players and Runestones. Surtlings can be difficult to fight but also make a good source of coal and cores if the player lures them down to a body of water.

Otherwise, players can also find Surtling Cores as loot inside of a random chest out in the many biomes or go searching for dungeons. If the player wants to find random chests, their best bet is to check inside Troll Caves. Outside of these, in the Swamp biome players can also find the dungeon type called the Crypts.

Unlike the trader or other landmarks within the game, the dungeons will not pop up on a player's map when they are close or have previously visited the area. Players should take advantage early on when they are weaker but still exploring to scope out their neighborhood. If a dungeon is found earlier on, or just before the player is ready to enter they can make a custom marker on their map for later.

If a player does choose to go the dungeoneering route, they should properly prepare beforehand. Supplying up with bringing along a couple of friends to fight by the player's side. Usually, the dungeons are quite dangerous with larger groups of enemies all crammed into the smaller space of the dungeon's ageways. If the player is lucky, they might even have the main group of enemies might be Surtlings in that dungeon which will double their collection in one place.
