Green Day

Formed in 1987 in Rodeo, California, Green Day is an American rock band comprising lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool. Their major-label debut, Dookie, released in 1994, became a breakout success, selling over 20 million copies in the U.S. The band is credited with re-popularizing mainstream interest in punk rock in the U.S. In 2004, they released American Idiot, a politically charged album with operatic scope, which sold more than 12 million copies worldwide and received the 2005 Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. Over their career, Green Day has sold over 85 million records globally, solidifying their status as one of the world's best-selling music artists.
