The storylines are kind of frenetically chosen in this, but overall this series is great! Love the animation style and voice acting performances, really a great and often overlooked part of the Batman oeuvre.

Batman is easily one of the most iconic franchises ever made, and despite its countless depictions, Batman: The Animated Series may be its best. The gritty animation creates an iconic style that recent shows like Batman: Caped Crusader have tried to imitate, and the short stories tell some of Batman's best tales. Kevin Conroy's phenomenal performance cements him as the voice of Batman, which allowed him to continue playing the character for several decades. Mark Hamill's The Joker, Richard Moll's Harvey Dent, and Diane Pershing's Poison Ivy are some of the greatest depictions of these villains that still hold up today, adding to the show's legacy. The show even introduced Harley Quinn who has become one of DC's biggest modern characters, highlighting its creativity and ability to take risks. While the series brings a feeling of nostalgia, the quality of Batman: The Animated Series is hard to argue with and is the sort of show that can appeal to Batman fans from all different generations.

Loved everything about it

This is one of the best animated tv shows when I was a kid.

Between its gothic set pieces, great character designs, and stories that strike a perfect balance between appealing to children and appealing to adults, Batman: The Animated Series more than deserves its reputation for being one of the greatest animated shows of all time. The series perfectly laid the groundwork for the iconic DCAU, and much like the shows that followed it, it's easy to understand why Batman: The Animated Series is often seen as the best depiction of the DC Universe.

Nothing on the air in the 1990s looked like Batman: the Animated Series, and that was purposeful. Taking a cue from Tim Burton's darker Batman movies rather than the Superfriends or Adam West, BtAS is responsible for almost every reason modern audiences love Batman. Showing that kids could handle a cartoon deeper than a toy commercial, the show gave pathos to its villains, introduced new characters like Harley Quinn, and hired a top-tier voice cast beyond just Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill. 30 years later, and I still go back and watch this more than any of the movies.
