Captain America: Civil War is basically Avengers 2.5, and that's why I love it so much.

Coming from The Russo Brothers, Civil War deals with the public's concerns over recent events involving the Avengers such as Age of Ultron's Battle of Sokovia and more events where massive destruction took place. Creating the Sokovia Accords where the UN would have oversight over the Avengers, this new legislation divides Earth's Mightiest Heroes with Captain America being against the Accords and Iron Man being in .

Boasting a large cast as big as any Avengers movie at the time, the lines drawn in Civil War and the teams of heroes that clash are incredible, as well as the MCU debuts of both Black Panther and Spider-Man. Civil War also serves to be an effective bridge between the second and third Avengers movies, dividing its heroes when they should have been united.

That said, the focal point throughout is still Steve Rogers' Captain America and his refusal to bend when he so firmly believes that he's fighting for is right. To see that clash with Iron Man's desire to finally be held able even if it means sacrificing certain freedoms was amazing to see in the MCU, making it one of my favorite Marvel movies to this day.

Making this a Captain America movie was a surprisingly smart touch, turning Avengers vs Avengers into a more personal story that focuses on Steve's loyalty and friendship with his former best friend Bucky and current ally Iron Man. It's noteworthy that this movie released around the same time as Batman vs Superman AND did the whole "I'm doing this because of emotions around my mother," but this version didn't invite mockery because the emotions feel far more natural and earned.

The Avengers 2 that Avengers: Age of Ultron should've been. Luckily both get to exist. Captain America is a good boy and no one should ever stand against him, I can't believe Tony Stark doesn't know this.

I thought it was a good movie

I'm not saying this is the best made MCU film, but it is 100% my favorite. Obviously it's an exciting watch because of its superhero team ups, but I actually think Civil War's story is incredibly strong. I love any debate where there's no black or white answer and an argument can be made for both sides. You can literally change your opinion on each watch. For example, I was Team Cap for the longest time and find myself now leaning towards Team Iron Man.

People's biggest argument with this film is that it's not a Captain America film, but I disagree. Steve's defiance of the Sokovia Accords is the heart of the conflict and it says a lot about where his character has grown to versus where he started. With this as a finisher to the trilogy, Civil War helps make the Captain America franchise the strongest in the MCU.

Any comic book fan knows that pages are rife with teams breaking up and being pitted against one another. This is the MCU's version of that, and it works incredibly well. One of the most interesting parts of the movie to me is seeing how the battle lines are drawn between Iron Man and Captain America because as the audience, it's easy to root for your favorite, but it's also easy to see why each of these characters have the opinion they do. I would have loved to see more one-on-one fights between some of the Avengers to see how their styles matched up, but there's only so much time on screen.

While the way the plot is arranged isn't ideal, I think the character work is why Civil War works for me. This is a tale of people reacting poorly to tragedy, despite doing their best, something Tony's MIT presentation touches on with his discussions of his therapy. This movie is about the road to hell being paved with good intentions, and every character is driven by them. That consistent theming doesn't get as much traction as other elements, but is worth discussing alongside the spectacle.

Gotta love Hollywood playing into government agenda and putting misinformation in their movies. Currently rewatching civil war and Cap says we got 7 bad guys with body armor and AR-15s. Yet all the bad guys are shooting at them with fully automatic weapons. AR-15s are not fully automatic weapons. Proof that Disney is trying to push their and the government’s agendas through their movies. Blatantly lying about the capabilities of weapons they want banned.

I love Captain America: Civil War, and I've felt that way since it was first released. I still how big of a deal it was when it came out when I was in middle school, and how important it felt to let everyone know if you were on Team Cap or Team Iron Man (I was on Team Cap). The movie feels so high-stakes and action-packed, perfectly encapsulating the drama and cinematography that make Marvel movies so great.

One of my favorite MCU movies. Civil War introduces characters in really exciting ways. Black Panther's introduction is genuinely thrilling. The airport scene is overrated. Not much weight to it, but the final fight takes the wind out of me.

I didn't like Captain America: Civil War nearly as much as everyone else did. I enjoyed the climactic battle between the two teams, but the movie seemed to drag on at points. The dialogue wasn't as punchy or comedic as other movies. I enjoyed the moral nuances and the exploration of opposite perspectives, but the storyline wasn't as well put together as other MCU movies.
