  • Hot Fuzz is my favorite movie of the Cornetto trilogy, because I was raised on buddy cop action movies much more than zombies or aliens. Edgar Wright is a fantastic director who always understands the assignment, and he does. not. miss. with this film. Should be studied in film classes for setup and payoff.

  • The best of the Cornetto Trilogy, as Pegg, Frost and Wright embrace the police crime drama and all of its tropes, yet brings in all the odd English oddities which make it feel surreal and bonkers. Between a surprising faithfulness to real police procedure, spectacular action, and a stacked cast. This loving send up of buddy cop movie tropes easily stands among the best of them.

Synopsis

The second film in Edgar Wright's Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, Hot Fuzz stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as two policemen who investigate a seemingly idyllic community in the English countryside. After London hotshot policeman Nicholas Angel is transferred to the sleepy town of Sandford, he finds himself partnered with bumbling local officer Danny Butterman (Nick Frost). However, the pair soon discover that Sandford is not all it appears to be, uncovering shocking secrets that will shake the town to its very core.

A fantastic send-up of loner cop action hero movies, with a final half hour that makes it the funniest thing I've seen this year.
