  • Mean Girls isn't the best teen comedy of all time, but it's certainly up there. Many of the jokes are dated today, but the casting directors truly got lightning in a bottle here. Lindsay Lohan was at the top of her game when this movie premiered and Rachel McAdams is the perfect Regina. That's why, even with a successful Broadway adaptation of the movie, it's still hard to see anyone else take on the roles.

  • A classic coming-of-age film that nearly everyone who has been through high school will be able to relate to. The anti-bullying message is crucial, especially so today with the rise of social media and cyberbullying. Cady and the Plastics are unforgettable characters, written so well you'll forget they're fictional. This movie makes me both feel nostalgic for my high school days and glad that phase of my life is over, all at the same time.

  • I've always been the rare Mean Girls hater. It is not entirely unentertaining, but I think a lot of the jokes don't age well and it ends up being more offensive than actually funny.

  • While not everything ages well (There's a certain scene that makes me cringe every time, Mean Girls holds up as a fun exploration of high-school hierarchies and cliques, with a positive message and incredibly memorable performances from Lohan and all four plastics that makes it a joy to revisit.

  • So many lines from this movie have become references, and even though I didn't like it, I find myself saying "stop trying to make fetch happen," all the time. I think that's my overall impression of the movie - lots of good, independent bits, but not necessarily a great whole.

Mean Girls features certain elements that do not stand the test of time, but the parts of it that sparkled most in 2004 still shine just as bright.
