The Dark Knight is a cinematic masterpiece, and Heath Ledger (RIP) gives one of the most amazing performances ever seen in a comic book movie. I also appreciate the exploration of moral relativism and serious issues.

The best twist on the Joker.

People say it's the greatest comic book movie ever, I say it's the best movie of all time. The acting especially of Heath Ledger, its a masterpiece. A movie we didn't deserve, but a movie we needed.

What can be said about The Dark Knight that hasn't already been said. While not my favorite of the trilogy, the energy here is unmatched. Nolan is fully in control and Ledger is of course giving one of the best performances. EVER. Fantastic stuff, but Aaron Eckhart is painfully underrated as Harvey Dent.

Classic.

This is definitely my favorite Batman movie of Christopher Nolan's incredible trilogy. Christian Bale was amazing as always and Heath Ledger's performance was absolutely mind blowing! The whole deeper meaning behind what society would do under extreme pressure was so well executed including Aaron Eckhart's Harvey Dent character turning from a true (two) face of Justice to pure evil was some fantastic character development! The action scenes were amazing as well! I absolutely love this movie!!!

If you're a fan of Nolan's trilogy, you probably consider this the best one. In my mind, it's definitely a better movie than the fantastic origin story/gritty reboot that was "Batman Begins". It certainly blessed us with Heath Ledger's phenomenal performance that has not been matched in any live-action medium; in fact, the menace he brings makes you forget you're watching a PG-13 movie. The performances across the board are also great, although I personally wish they kept Katie Holmes. Joker's constant philosophical and moral clashes with Batman are arguably the most compelling aspect here, especially in the climax with the ferry conundrum. The action sequences are thrilling and highly entertaining. Really, what can I say about this that has not already been said, and why not the perfect 5-star score? Honestly, while Aaron Eckhart is wonderful as Harvey Dent/Two-Face, he is undeniably a secondary villain who is saved for the second half, especially the ending. As a result, he feels a bit tacked-on in the finale. And while I understand what Nolan was going for with Batman taking the fall for Dent's crimes in the end, everyone universally agrees that it would have been better just to blame it on the Joker. This is still one of my favorite movies of all time, and it is amazing how well it still holds up today.

Nolan's masterpiece

While not entirely to my taste, The Dark Knight is a strong superhero movie, balancing grounded action with the core of the comic-book figures. The feature has an incredibly strong cast that perfectly bring each character to life, from Bruce's push and pull between the Bat and the Man, Ledger's Joker's chaos, and Eckhart's perfectly tragic Two Face. The setpieces are strong and distinct, and manages to hold up to this day.
