  • While definitely a far-cry from the novel I read in School, The Iron Giant may be a stronger movie than its source material. Its changes are more in-line with the themes that the novel was trying to tell, making the US military the overlying threat than a cosmic dragon. The bond between the giant and Hogarth is so powerful, and, even with the optimistic final scene, can bring tears to my eyes.

  • The Iron Giant is one of those movies that really left a deep impact in my memory. From the power line scenes to the moments between the two leads, the film is just touching, dramatic, and holds up.

  • The Iron Giant is a lovely tale of an unlikely friendship between two different beings. Probably the best Superman portrayal that there has ever been. Makes me cry at the end everytime. Love how much the characters grow throughout.

  • Despite how little attention it received when it was first released, The Iron Giant has gained a major cult following over the years thanks to its stellar animation, engaging Cold War drama, and the surprisingly deep character writing given to the cast, especially the titular Iron Giant, and that reputation is more than deserved. Brad Bird has gone on to make some of the biggest films in animation over the past 20 years, but The Iron Giant can easily be seen as the best work he's ever made.

  • Vin Diesel's best roles involve him voicing animated characters with limited vocabularies. Discuss.

Seriously, this movie was an underrated gem on its release, and has gotten its flowers in the subsequent 30 years. Ready Player One deserves 10,000 years in the dungeon for turning him into a gun.
