WHERE TO WATCH

Reviews(2)

  • During an era where YA Dystopian films were incredibly oversaturated, The Maze Runner blazed a trail alongside The Hunger Games and the numerous copycats. It's a tense ride that is competently directed by Wes Ball.

  • The Maze Runner is a tense, action-packed film that grabbed my attention and didn't let go until the very end. Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Dylan O'Brien in particular gave wonderful performances, but I thought all the roles were well cast and played excellently.

Synopsis

The first installment in the Maze Runner franchise, The Maze Runner, is based on James Dashner's 2009 novel of the same name. When sixteen-year-old Thomas wakes up in the middle of an intricate maze with no memory, he falls in with a group of other boys who have been working to find their way out of the labyrinth. The maze is filled with deadly techno-organic creatures, and Thomas strives to find his way out of the maze while trying to recover his lost identity.

The Maze Runner leans heavily on its premise, to the detriment of individual characters, but still succeeds as one of Hollywood's better young adult adaptations.
