The reversal of Thanos' snap from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is diving deeper into its unintended consequences around the world.

In Endgame, the Avengers were motivated to undo Thanos' genocide. Motivated by their belief that ultimately the Mad Titan's actions were wrong despite the villain's justifications, the heroes risked their own lives for the time heist. Black Widow even had to give up her life for their goal. Eventually, Iron Man also needed to sacrifice himself to protect the galaxy from any threat from Thanos and his minions; and, despite his death, Endgame ended with a sense of optimism as Spider-Man: Far From Home continued this trend by revealing how the world is thankful for the Avengers' efforts to bring back those who perished from the decimation. But as it turns out, that's only one side of the story.

As Marvel Studios move on with Phase 4, it's also revealing other unintended effects of reversing Thanos' snap. This proves that despite the Avengers' best intentions, there will always be negative consequences, especially if they fail to see things from a different perspective. Amid the complicated story of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the series has done a solid job tackling the complications left by the sudden return of half of the world's population thanks to the introduction of the Flag-Smashers.

The Displaced People

Following Thanos' devastating snap, the half of the population who survived the decimation had no choice but to move on with their lives. Endgame briefly tackled this mainly from the perspective of the heroes. However, Captain America's therapy group offered a glimpse of what it's like for civilians who weren't on the frontlines for the fight against the Mad Titan. The meetings' goal was to help survivors move on with their lives. When the Blip was reversed, survivors who moved and settled to new places as a way to cope with the effects of the snap were forced out of their newfound homes as explained by Karli explained in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Thanos' win forced the world to unify in an effort to move past the trauma of the snap. In its aftermath, borders were opened and people were able to move freely. But since the return of the snap victims was an indication that the world went back to the way it was before the decimation, with previous global zoning reinstituted. Meanwhile, Those who were gone for five years reclaim their old lives and dwellings, resulting in people who have taken over them in the last five years displaced and have been branded refugees.

The Strain On Resources

Thanos cited the finite amount of resources as the main reason why the decimation was needed. Using Titan as an example of a planet that wasn't able to sustain its dwellers due to the lack of basic necessities, the Thanos argued that the galaxy needed random genocide to ensure that it will thrive for much longer. The villain's actions were definitively wrong as he essentially played God with people's lives, but he recognized a very real problem and the reverse snap only made it worse. After the decimation in Infinity War, the survivors had enough resources to get back on their feet despite the emotional trauma brought about by losing people they knew. When half of those people came back five years later, food, shelter, and water were suddenly insufficient as the population doubled. If anything, this issue may have become even worse as the food supply, in particular, was likely downscaled after the Blip to reflect the global population. Without any warning that the reverse snap would bring back those who disappeared, the world didn't have any time to prepare for the significantly bigger demand for resources. This could result in all kinds and levels of conflict as people fight for their needed supply. While the Global Repatriation Council (GRC) has been established, the flow of goods is still hampered for various reasons including inefficient operations.

Victims Returning To Random Places

WandaVision Episode 4 - Monica Reforming During Blip

When Thanos snapped his fingers, half of life on Earth and across the galaxy suddenly disappeared and, when it was reversed, the victims returned on the exact spot they were in when they were snapped out of existence. Spider-Man: Far From Home was the first MCU film to show how this worked, although it was used mostly for laughs. It was WandaVision, however, that really showed how horrifying and chaotic this really was. It started with Monica Rambeau reforming after Smart Hulk's reverse snap in a hospital room where she was five years prior. Chaos then ensued following the consecutive returns of those who were snuffed out of existence in the building; this hampered the institution's operations and caused injuries as people unknowingly hit each other. Aside from what's revealed on-screen, there are other practical issues from people randomly reappearing in places where they disappeared. They could suddenly pop out in a dangerous place like in the middle of a busy street or in their old homes which had either been repurposed or came to be owned by someone else.

The Creation of Extremist New Villains

With who have been displaced after the Blip was reversed, Karli and the Flag-Smashers are fighting for a unified planet, just like how it was on the heels of Thanos' snap. This is reflected in their motto, "One World. One People." As Sam said in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 4, he understands where the group is coming from, and they might even share the same principles. However, he simply cannot be on board with how they murder for the sake of their mission. Interestingly, this makes the terrorist/revolutionaries very similar to Thanos; like them, the Mad Titan was convinced that he's doing the right thing not knowing that it's how he does it that makes him a villain. Aside from the Flag-Smashers, there could also be other radicalized groups lurking in the shadow; perhaps people who thrived in the five years after Avengers: Infinity War and genuinely believe that Thanos was right to balance Earth and the universe. Given this, they might be inspired and try to replicate it in any way they can.
