The Bachelorette season 21, there have been some major red flags concerning the guys cast to be part of Jenn’s journey. While Jenn has been dealing with her own adversity throughout the season, the biggest backlash that The Bachelorette has faced in years has been focused on her cast of guys. Though they were originally chosen for another Bachelorette, not much changed when Jenn stepped in.

During The Bachelor season 28’s final stretch, it felt certain that either Maria Georgas or Daisy Kent would become the next Bachelorette. While some felt Jenn would make the perfect Bachelorette because of her personality on The Bachelor, others were hopeful they’d see Joey’s runner-up Daisy on the journey, or the fun villain of the season, Maria. It was revealed after the fact that Maria had accepted the offer to become The Bachelorette, but then chose to take a step back. Jenn stepped in for the season, but the journey wasn’t customized to her, which created major issues all season.

Jenn’s Cast Of Guys Were Interested In Maria

They Thought They’d Be Meeting Maria Or Daisy

Although The Bachelorette season 21 ultimately did become Jenn’s, the fact that it was initially meant for Maria stuck to the season. With Jenn stepping in just weeks before filming began, The Bachelorette stuck with the same cast they were planning to use for Maria, and it was clear from early on that Jenn wasn’t the person that many of the guys thought they’d be meeting. After weeks together, some of Jenn’s suitors outright said they weren’t attracted to Jenn, and others, like winner Devin Strader, made it clear after the fact that he’d been on the show for Maria.

Although the guys must have been somewhat aware they weren't going to meet Maria or Daisy, the fact that many of them still seemed to stick around for Jenn was promising at first. Unfortunately, many of the guys waited until Jenn had built connections with them to voice that they weren't interested in her. The sinister nature of The Bachelorette season 21 cast was a strange tone for the season.

Along with the cast of men on The Bachelorette season 21 not shifting, there were no other accommodations seemingly made for Jenn even though that was one of the major selling points for the season leading up to it. Jenn, the first Asian-American lead in the franchise, was excited to be able to shine a light on her culture and share more of herself with the world in hopes of inspiring others like her. While her culture was mentioned at the beginning of the season on The Bachelorette, there was little fanfare surrounding it throughout the rest of the season.

Maria Is Still Fanning The Flames

She’s Trying To Keep Her Name Out Of The Drama

After The Bachelorette season 21’s finale, where Jenn shared that she and Devin had broken up and a day later she’d noticed he’d followed Maria on Instagram, the almost-Bachelorette took to TikTok to clear things up. Explaining that she was no longer friends with Jenn, she shared she had no ill will toward the Bachelorette lead, but made it clear that she also had nothing to do with Devin’s actions. Though Maria was hoping to clear up The Bachelor drama, her posts were simply fanning the flames and keeping everything relevant rather than putting all of the drama to rest.
