While The Bachelor season 29’s contestants entered the competition sure of their intentions: to steal Grant’s heart. In true Bachelor fashion, fights broke out early.
As the show rounds up its fourth week, some women have attracted backlash for monopolizing Grant’s time and attention. Zoe remains an unpopular contestant in the house as she continuously steps on toes and starts drama. The other women have become progressively more irate. Although her competitive nature has generated entertaining footage for producers, tensions are sure to boil over. Her self-serving actions and ability to enrage the contestants heavily imply she's on the show to stir the pot.
Zoe Started Drama During Basketball Practice
Zoe Overstepped
The star turned heads during the first group date. The women were separated into two groups, with half expected to play a competitive game of basketball and half challenged with a singing performance. Zoe was part of the former group and entered the date with ruthless intentions.
When the women began practicing their “slam-dunks,” Zoe insisted on stealing private time with Grant instead of taking her turn. The women were both shocked and frustrated as her practice shot would have taken seconds. Zoe took Grant to the roof of the building and enjoyed extensive time alone with the lead.
This decision directly hurt other contestants as several couldn't secure any time with Grant after this tangent.
This questionable move infuriated the women as they were left awkwardly standing, awaiting Grant’s return. Zoe, unsurprisingly, had no remorse. If Zoe were a producer plant, she would be perfectly executing her role as the season’s “villain.” Not only did she produce highly entertaining footage and drum up conversations from fans online, but she also started a general theme of animosity in the house. This decision was just the start of her problematic actions.
Zoe Stole Grant Away Several Times
Zoe Cut Into Other Contestant's Dates
As if this time was insufficient, Zoe interrupted several one-on-one conversations between Grant and the other women. When Juliana Pasquarosa had some alone time with the lead, Zoe proceeded to cut the conversation short. Juliana conceded, leaving Zoe alone with Grant, but Allie Jo Hinkes was furious. Alli Jo stormed in, requesting her turn, and Zoe backed off. The concession only lasted moments as Zoe stood and lingered, only to ask for Grant again.

The situation became heated quickly. When Zoe finally returned after monopolizing Grant’s time, the women were seething. Alli Jo confronted Zoe, but Zoe stood by her actions. Zoe’s reputation was damaged as most of the women agreed she overstepped boundaries. Zoe felt she was well within her rights. She cited the competitive nature of the game as her reasoning. Her shameless actions are what would be expected of a producer plant.
Zoe Played The Victim
Zoe Villainized The Others
Zoe remained unpopular. The women had recognized her intentions and harbored resentment. When she stood to refill her drink during the third episode, Serafiena Watkins made an ittedly spiteful comment.
“That’s the shortest dress I’ve ever seen in my life.”
The comment was quiet, but Zoe overheard. She snapped at the women before taking the drama to Grant. Zoe lamented the other women were mean and taking “jabs.” Grant unsurprisingly takes her side and comments, “If being you offends other people, you shouldn’t stop.” The conversation ends with a kiss. She played the game perfectly. She villainized the other women while presenting as a martyr. Zoe secured time with Grant and maintained his attention. These actions will only strengthen her chances with the lead so long as Grant doesn’t catch on.
Zoe Won The Bullride By Copying Alexe
Zoe Didn't Win Fairly
When the women got to Madrid, they were challenged to ride “Batalla del toro,” or a mechanical bull. Most were flung off in seconds but by hanging onto the horns, Alexe Godin outlasted others in the group date and survived for 47 seconds. When Zoe went up, she copied Alexe's technique. Although it was unclear who hung on longer, Zoe was awarded the trophy and a sunset date with Grant.
Zoe has been underhanded and strategic in her approach to the group dates. By mimicking another competitor, she secured even more time with Grant. This date seemed almost preplanned as her victory wasn’t irrefutable. Chances are, she will remain in the competition until the final few.
While The Bachelor encourages drama, Zoe has been a particularly controversial contestant. Despite not having the most chemistry with Grant, she has maintained a lot of his attention. Her front-running status may mean that her role as a producer plant has been highly successful. Zoe won’t be going anywhere for a while.
The Bachelor airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
