Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne deals with the next The Batman 2 with Pattinson is still in pre-production, fans are continuing to share their theories and hopes about what will be taking place in the sequel.

Since The Batman 2 will pick up sometime after the events of The Penguin season 1, Screen Culture shared a new concept trailer for the sequel, showcasing Colin Farrell's Oz Cobb wreaking havoc in Gotham City. However, The Penguin isn't the only Batman villain Pattinson's Caped Crusader has to tackle, as The Batman 2 concept trailer also features Barry Keoghan's Joker, following his introduction in the 2022 installment. Check it out below:

While Farrell is confirmed to be reprising the role of Penguin in The Batman 2, there is no confirmation yet on whether or not Keoghan's Joker will be part of the sequel. According to Pattinson, filming for The Batman 2 is reportedly set to begin towards the end of 2025.

What The Batman 2 Concept Trailer Means For Robert Pattinson's DC Sequel

From the concept trailer alone, it's not a shock that fans have various ideas about what The Batman 2 should focus on, especially with major villains like Joker and Penguin. Something highlighted in The Batman 2 concept trailer is that the audience is ready to see Bruce evolve as a crime fighter, including seeing upgrades to the tech and Batsuit, while dealing with newer and bigger threats facing his city. By the time The Batman 2 comes out in October 2027, it will have been half a decade since the first film, meaning that it's definitely time to see Pattinson as a more experienced Batman.

Even though it only gives a taste of this world's Clown Prince of Crime, the concept trailer is also a sign that there is definitely interest in seeing Keoghan's Joker in The Batman 2, despite the DC foe being one of the most used villains in Batman media. Whether or not that will be the case remains to be seen, as Reeves could be making room for a different DC villain to be used in The Batman 2, particularly someone who fans haven't seen much of in past Batman movies. Given how The Penguin season 1 finale concluded, it at least makes sense that Oz has a crucial antagonist role to play in the 2027 installment.

Our Take On The Batman 2 Concept Trailer

Robert Pattinson in the sewers as Bruce Wayne in The Batman

From the amount of chaos presented through Joker and Penguin's presence in The Batman 2 concept trailer, it will be intriguing to see what direction Reeves will actually go in with his sequel. Even if Joker isn't in The Batman 2, that doesn't mean he couldn't be saved for a future installment, while also allowing a different Batman foe to get the spotlight. Hopefully, as 2025 gets further in, more updates on casting and story details for The Batman 2 will start to roll out when filming kicks off at the end of this year.
