transferred to the next Flash, Wally West, when he earned the respect of the Lantern through his work. While the two of them may not have as much in common, their powers have striking similarities.
Wally has been able to use the Speed Force in more creative ways than Barry Allen. He’s tapped into new abilities and even has been proven to be the fastest speedster. One of his most creative uses of the Speed Force is using speed energy to create constructs similar to those created by Green Lanterns.
On one occasion, Wally used the Speed Force to create a completely solid Flash costume out of Speed Energy, seen in The Flash #130 by Grant Morrison, Mark Millar, Paul Ryan, John Nyberg, Tom McCraw, and Gaspar Saladino. The construct he created was on the level of a Green Lantern construct and pushed him to use his powers in ways he never thought possible.
Wally West's Flash Can Use The Speed Force To Create Constructs Like A Green Lantern.
However, this power, known as Energy Construct Creation, has not been used much. It requires extreme, uninterrupted concentration and reapplication of the construct for Wally to hold it for longer than a couple of seconds. This explains why this ability hasn’t been used as much by speedsters, but can be extremely useful in creating solid objects like walls and even bridges. Unlike a Green Lantern’s constructs, the Speed Force manifests itself in different ways, by showing bridges as a form of light, for example. It’s clear these constructs can adjust according to a speedster's needs, and is an ability the Flash should be able to use more often to gain an upper hand against the other speedsters in the DCU.
By using this ability, Wally West shows an understanding of the Speed Force that’s deeper and more imaginative than other speedsters. In the end, he was able to create a full suit, run on air, and even beat himself in a race. If this power was used more often, it could open a doorway to even more creative constructs. For now, readers can only hope that this Flash ability can be used in ways different from Green Lantern constructs.
