WARNING: The following piece has SPOILERS for WWE Monday Night Raw from April 7, 2025. Reader beware - don't say we didn't warn you!
a weeks-long European tour, emanating from the Target Center in Minneapolis. Three matches have been officially announced - a Women's Intercontinental Championship match between Lyra Valkyria and Bayley and a World Tag Team Championship bout between The War Raiders and The New Day. Elsewhere on the show, Penta will take on The Judgement Day's Dominik Mysterio.
As for the WrestleMania 41 build, Adam Pearce will address the controversy surrounding the Women's World Championship (likely setting up a triple threat between Iyo Sky, Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley) and Paul Heyman will appear to address both CM Punk (who is demanding Heyman be in his corner at WrestleMania) and Seth Rollins.
Here are your key moments from tonight's Monday Night Raw for April 7, 2025:
- Adam Pearce opens the show by bringing out Sky, Belair and Ripley. He makes the triple threat match at WrestleMania official after criticizing the trio's actions. Belair cuts a promo on Ripley, Sky once again gets overlooked and responds with a missile dropkick to both women. The champ leaves the ring standing tall.
- A four-way Intercontinental Championship Match is confirmed for WrestleMania 41 - Bron Breakker vs. Penta vs. Finn Balor vs. Dominik Mysterio.
- The Judgement Day react to the news at their clubhouse backstage. Balor hypes up Mysterio for his match with Penta.
- Lyra Valkyria retains her Women's Intercontinental Championship against Bayley. Bayley spent the bulk of the match targeting Valkyria's back, ultimately trapping her in a Lion Tamer submission. Valkyria escaped. Bayley attempted her Rose Plant finish, only for the champ to roll "The Role Model" up for the win.
- Comedian Bert Kreischer has a backstage segment with American Made and Alpha Academy.
- Karrion Kross confronts AJ Styles backstage, telling him the WWE locker room needs Styles to bring back "the old AJ Styles" to beat Logan Paul at WrestleMania. Styles sets up a match with Kross for next week's Raw.
- American Made defeat the LWO in a six-man tag match. El Grande Americano has Ivy Nile him a steel plate for him to sneak into his mask. After dispatching of Rey Mysterio, he headbutted Dragon Lee off the top of the rope with the loaded mask, then hit a diving headbutt for the win.
- Gunther arrives in a suit to gloat over beating up Jimmy Uso last week. He's immediately interrupted by Jey Uso, who arrives without doing his usual "Yeet!" intro. Uso cuts an emotional promo about telling his mother what happened to Jimmy and its he was afraid of Gunther. But the beatdown helped him realize he's no longer afraid of "The Ring General." He swears to "get" Gunther for what he did and take the World Heavyweight Championship. Gunther stays silent as Uso left the ring.
- Mysterio demands a match at WrestleMania with El Grande Americano. Pearce gladly makes it official.
- The New Day defeat The War Raiders via disqualification. Xavier Woods attempted to use a steel chair and wound up in a tug of war with Ivar, who smacked Woods with the chair just as the referee turned around to see it. Woods and Kingston then beat up the champs.
- Penta beats Dominik Mysterio with The Sacrifice, followed by the Penta Driver. Carlito and Mysterio attack Penta after the match, prompting Breakker to arrive. Breakker wipes out both of The Judgement Day, then spears Penta. Breakker grabs a mic to cut a promo, only to be attacked from behind by Balor. Balor poses with the Intercontinental Championship, then dodges a spear attempt from Breakker to end the segment.
- The lineup for next week's Raw includes Styles vs. Kross and an appearance by Roman Reigns. The commentary team pointed out Paul Heyman won't be accompanying him.
- Paul Heyman arrives for a show-closing promo. Heyman swears he’ll remain loyal to Reigns, but he’ll also still be loyal to his best friend, CM Punk. He attempts to set the record straight about WrestleMania, but is cut off by Seth Rollins. Rollins sarcastically asks whose side is Heyman truly on. But then he runs down both Punk and Reigns, saying neither man truly respects him. He reminds Heyman how Reigns left him with the rest of The Bloodline, who happily beat him up in his hometown. As for Punk, he walked out on Heyman a decade ago and tried to tear down the WWE. And then Rollins reminds Heyman how Punk wasn’t event the first choice for Team Roman at WarGames last year, and he only took the match to get a favor out of Heyman. He advises Heyman to stay home, then threatens to remove him from the equation. He starts putting his hands on Heyman, finally drawing Punk out to the ring. Rollins eventually hits Punk with a Curb Stomp. Heyman tries to console Punk, prompting Rollins to set up for another Curb Stomp. Instead he stops short of Heyman’s head, grabs a microphone and says, “Now you owe me a favor.”
Here are your results from tonight's WWE Raw for April 7, 2025:
- Women's Intercontinental Championship: Lyra Vakyria def. Bayley
- American Made (El Grande Americano, The Creed Brothers) def. The LWO (Dragon Lee, Joaquin Wilde, Cruz Del Toro)
- World Tag Team Championship: The New Day def. The War Raiders via disqualification
- Penta def. Dominik Mysterio
Paul Heyman's "Favor" Saga Takes A Twist
Could Heyman Wind Up With Seth Rollins?
Through no real fault of his own, Seth Rollins feels like the third wheel in his storyline with CM Punk and Roman Reigns. What started as a years-long grudge between himself and Punk has evolved into the latter two men fighting over Heyman heading into WrestleMania 41. The closing moments of Raw managed to add an extra layer to the equation, presenting the possibility of Rollins forcing Heyman to be in his corner in Las Vegas.
Will this prove to be the deciding factor in the Reigns/Punk/Rollins triple threat match? Probably not. But Rollins does have a history of swooping in and stealing victories from Reigns on "The Grandest Stage of Them All." And the fact that we're even talking about it makes the Night 1 main event just a bit more interesting.
Jey Uso Finally Nails It
He Delivered When It Mattered Most
There was a lot riding on Jey Uso's promo this week. After over a month of lackluster storytelling between Gunther and him, "The Ring General" kicked things into high gear last week with that brutal mauling of Jimmy Uso. If Jey wasn't able to respond with that same intensity this week, this program would be dead on arrival in Las Vegas.
Thankfully, Uso played his part perfectly. He didn't walk out with his usual entrance, he didn't stumble over the lines of the promo, and he was able to bring the same intensity that propelled him to become a fan-favorite during his program with Roman Reigns years ago. It's still far from the best match on the WrestleMania card, but "Main Event Jey" is finally living up to the hype as a Royal Rumble match winner.
The WrestleMania 41 Midcard Takes Shape
More Matches Were Confirmed On Raw
We got two WrestleMania matches confirmed on Monday night - a four-way for Bron Breakker's Intercontinental Championship and Rey Mysterio vs. El Grande Americano. Breakker looked like an absolute monster during his brief appearance on the show and you could easily sell me on a one-on-one match between him and Penta. But the addition of two Judgement Day all but guarantees some shenanigans that could result in Dominik Mysterio becoming champion (which, ittedly, would be fun). As for Mysterio/Americano, it feels like a waste to not include the LWO and American Made in some sort of multi-man tag match, but we'll still get something fun out of Chad Gable's masked persona.
As for the rest of the card, it's hard to say if WWE will have anything for Lyra Valkyria to do after she retained her title against Bayley. And the finish to that tag title match means we'll get something between The War Raiders and New Day with a weapons-based stipulation - though that's yet to be confirmed.
Our Take On Last Night WWE Raw
There Was A Lot To Like
I'll it I haven't been a fan of Raw's pacing ever since the "Netflix Era" began. I thoroguhly appreciate that the show no longer goes three hours (take notes, SmackDown...), but oftentimes it feels like there's not enough planned for the show to even fill two hours. Tonight was no exception given there were only four matches, but Valkyria vs. Bayley blew my expectations out of the water, the Uso/Gunther segment delivered and the show-closing promo ended things on a high note.
Was it a step back from the last few weeks with Cody Rhodes and John Cena both being absent? Sure. But it was the exact kind of episode WWE needed to deliver this close to WrestleMania. I call that a win
