Spoiler Alert for Tracker season 2, episode 8, "The Night Movers"An update for Tracker season 2, episode 8, "The Night Movers," closed out the first half of the procedural’s sophomore season in December, setting up a promising back half. Colter solved a compelling weekly case when he searched for a missing person classified as dead, coming into and teaming up with a disappearing operation. After solving his case of the week, he got a call from Keaton.

Colter met Keaton when investigating a missing person case in episode 6. The retired law enforcement officer was investigating the same area to solve a cold case and teamed up with Colter during the outing. After Colter helped Keaton complete his investigation, the rewardist enlisted the ex-cop to look into Gina Picket's disappearance, a cold case that he hasn't been able to solve in ten years. Colter reunites with his newfound ally after Keaton finds a witness in Gina's case named Alex Silva, but he must be cautious moving forward in Tracker season 2.

Colter Continues To Team Up With Keaton In Tracker Season 2, Part 2

Brenton Sexton Will Return As Keaton

Ahead of Tracker’s return, TV Line shared the synopsis for the midseason premiere, which confirms Colter’s white whale case will have a new lead. The brief establishes the development will bring Colter and Keaton back together, with Brent Sexton returning to guest star. This means that it's essentially a continuation of "The Night Movers." Read the official synopsis below:

“The Disciple” – A new lead in Colter’s white whale case, the disappearance of Gina Picket, brings him and retired cop Keaton (guest star Brent Sexton) back together to track down a serial killer.

Colter and Keaton will likely follow up on the developments of Alex Silva, an old associate of Frank Whales. Colter is suspicious of Whales in the Tracker season 2 premiere since he was the last person seen with Gina. Alex tells Colter and Keaton that “Teacher” recruited him and Whales to lure girls to “The Farm.” While Silva’s confession initially made it sound like Gina could be alive, the synopsis for Tracker season 2, episode 9, says that Colter and Keaton will investigate a serial killer, meaning the tracker may have missed his opportunity to find Gina alive.

Colter's Difference From Keaton Can Lead To Problems For Justin Hartley's Character

Keaton's Return Could Be A Bad Thing

Keaton and Colter looking at Alex Silva in Tracker season 2

When Tracker introduced Keaton, he and Colter seemed morally aligned due to their interest in cold cases. Their dedication to their responsibility as protectors bonded them and caused Colter to open up and ask Keaton to help him. That said, Keaton’s tactics in the Tracker season 2 midseason finale paint a significant difference between him and Colter. When Keaton brings Colter to Alex, it's clear he has brutally tortured the young informant. Keaton has beaten Alex's face beyond recognition in an effort to extract information from him.

Tracker returns to CBS on Sunday, February 16, at 8 pm.

Keaton’s brutal tactics are out of place for Tracker. While Colter is a skilled marksman and fighter, he only resorts to violence when necessary. If Colter had found Alex Silva, he could likely have convinced him to talk over a conversation, as the show previously established. In contrast, Keaton’s treatment of Alex Silva is blatant torture. Tracker season 2, episode 8 proves that Colter and Keaton aren't as morally aligned as they once seemed. Therefore, their differences could cause a rift at critical moments in the next outing, putting Colter in danger when Tracker season 2 returns.
