WARNING! Spoilers ahead for Transformers #18Transformers has a brand-new Autobot, and they just might be the most powerful yet seen in the Energon Universe. Shredhead made their debut at the end of the previous issue, and now readers get to see the all-new character in action. Shredhead more than lives up to the promise of their name as they decimate a group of Decepticons in thrilling fashion.
Coming from the creative team of Daniel Warren Johnson, Jorge Corona, Mike Spicer, and Rus Wooton, Transformers #18 opens on Cybertron, where a rebel group of Autobots are under siege from the Decepticons.
Just as all hope seems lost, the Autobot warrior Shredhead enters the battle, taking out a Decepticon while still in their van alt-mode. From there, they make short work of the remaining Decepticons, wielding their massive energy sword to slice through them like a side of roast beef.
Transformers’ Newest Autobot Shredhead Proves to Be a Game-Changer
Elita-One’s Rare Optimism Highlights Shredhead’s Power
Elita-One watches on as Shredhead takes out the Decepticons, telling fellow Autobot Bluestreak that they “may have just turned the tide.” Considering Elita’s cynical attitude to the Autobot/Decepticon war, it’s pretty huge to hear the hardened warrior express any hint of optimism, which shows just how powerful Shredhead is. The all-new Autobot was made up of several pieces, most notably pieces of Cliffjumper’s clan. Cliff then combined these fragments with the wreckage of human ally Carly’s van, which he had then driven through the portal from Earth to Cybertron after Optimus Prime destroyed the space bridge.
All these pieces came together to form what might be the most metal Autobot of them all. Adorned with Carly’s artwork from her van and wielding a massive sword and shield, Shredhead certainly cuts an intimidating figure. Now that fans have seen Shredhead’s prowess on the battlefield, it adds yet another intriguing storyline to what might be the most exciting series running today. Writer and Shredhead creator Daniel Warren Johnson’s run will come to an end with Transformers #24, so hopefully, he has big plans in store for the Autobots’ newest warrior before all is said and done.
