Giving Gambit a heartbreaking backstory, with ties to the TVA, is perfectly fitting for his character, and suggests Marvel has ongoing plans for him.

While Tatum’s Gambit was a fun cameo, there is untapped potential for the character to be expanded upon, such as in the MCU Secret Wars event, or the Avengers films. The tragic loss of Rogue being a major motive for this variant of Gambit offers an interesting perspective on the character, showcasing how the TVA can further expand Channing Tatum’s Gambit within the MCU.
