Breaking Dawn - Part 2 came out. In 2005, Stephenie Meyer shared her vision of vampires in the novel Twilight, the first entry in what would become a series of four books. The core of the story was the relationship between vampire Edward Cullen and mortal Bella Swan, who came across a lot of obstacles – from werewolves to a clan of vampires known as the Volturi.
The success and popularity of the Bella married Edward and built a family with him, Jacob didn’t end up alone, and he imprinted on Bella’s daughter, Renesmee.
Taylor Lautner wasn’t exactly a new face when he first appeared as Jacob Black in The Ridiculous 6, alongside Adam Sandler, Terry Crews, Jorge García, Rob Schneider, and Luke Wilson, and got even worse reviews than Tracers, getting a rare 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. His most recent film project is the drama Run the Tide, released in 2016.
Taylor Lautner’s career hasn’t been limited to movies, and he has also been part of a couple of TV shows. In 2014, he ed the second season of the sitcom Scream Queens. Both his character’s arc and the series came to an end with season 2, and that’s the last Twilight fans have seen of him on TV. Lautner’s decision to stay away from franchises could be rooted in how he felt he was being “pigeonholed” for playing Jacob Black, even sharing at some point that he didn’t want to be known for his looks, as in many projects he was being asked to take his shirt off just for the sake of it.
Another reason could be that the movies he was a part of didn’t perform well, which can definitely be discouraging. Luckily, Taylor Lautner had better luck on TV and his work in Cuckoo and Scream Queens was better received than those of Tracers and The Ridiculous 6. Taylor Lautner doesn’t have any projects lined up for the near future, but that doesn’t mean he can't make a comeback at some point.
