Ultimate Ears (or UE), the Logitech-owned isn't limited to keyboards, mice and webcams. Alongside its leading Logitech brand, the Swiss-American company owns the audio brands Ultimate Ears and Jaybird.

Ultimate Ears' main products are Bluetooth speakers, but it also has a few headphones. In 2020, it launched the UE Fits, a unique pair of earbuds with tips that mold to fit the owner's ears for a perfect fit. On the other hand, the Jaybird brand is known for headphones, particularly earbuds. Both brands sell their products in the U.S.

The Wonderboom 3 arrives three years after the Wonderboom 2, but despite the long gap between both products, not much has changed. The new speaker retains its predecessor's cylindrical design, the two-tone finish and the familiar oversized volume control buttons that have become associated with the brand. A bungee is still attached to the speaker to make it easy to carry about or hang on a hook. However, Ultimate Ears says the speaker is now made from 31 percent recycled plastic. The Wonderboom 3 comes in Black, Blue, Pink and Joyous Bright.

The Wonderboom 3 Is Dust & Water-Resistant

Like the Wonderboom 2, the new speaker has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. UE says it will withstand dust, dirt, and splashes as well as immersion in water for up to 30 minutes. The Wonderboom 3 is also built to survive drops from a height of up to five feet. Inside the speaker are two 40mm drivers and two ive radiators for 360-degree sound. Alongside the volume buttons on the side, the speaker has a Bluetooth pairing button, a power button, and a multifunction button for play/pause/skip at the top. A button on the underside is also used to activate an outdoor mode.

The new speaker has a battery life of up to 14 hours on a single charge, a tiny bump from the 13 hours of the previous generation. It connects via Bluetooth, s Google Fast Pair, has a range of up to 40 meters, and can be connected to two source devices simultaneously. Owners can also stream audio to two Wonderboom 3 speakers from one source. However, it is disappointing that the Wonderboom 3 has a micro-USB port for charging, just like its predecessor.

Considering USB-C is practically mainstream already, it is befuddling why Ultimate Ears decided not to go with a USB-C port. Instead, the port is hidden behind a flap at the bottom, and a full charge takes 2.6 hours. Thankfully, Ultimate Ears includes a charging cable in the box. Just as the design and features haven't changed much, Ultimate Ears has kept the price tag unchanged at $99. The Wonderboom 3 will begin shipping on Aug. 31.
